Air defence activated after alleged Israeli airstrikes on Damascus

Syria said four people have been killed and three were wounded after Israeli airstrikes targetted Damascus early on Wednesday activating its air defence system.

According to Syrian state media, surface-to-surface missiles were launched from the direction of Tiberias targetting areas of the Syrian capital.

Israel has not issued any comments on the attack on thus far.

US national Trevor Reed transported to a Moscow airport for a prisoner swap

The US national Trevor Reed, serving a sentence for a physical confrontation with a police officer during his arrest in Moscow, was escorted to the Vnukovo airport for a prisoner swap with a Russian citizen.

Reed will be handed to the US authorities in exchange for Konstantin Yaroshenko, a Russian pilot jailed for 20 years for drug smuggling in the US.

The swap will take place in a third country, with several reports indicating Turkey as a host country.
