France on Friday blasted Russia for the "sham trial" that handed death sentences to three foreign nationals in a pro-Russian court of Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). In a statement, the French Foreign Ministry expressed "deep concern" over the conviction of three men who volunteered to fight for Ukraine in the war against Russia. Describing the two-day running trial on the trio as a "sham", Paris also called on Russia to "treat them under respect for international humanitarian law," CNN reported.

Speaking about India's growth and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic waves, in its recent report to US Congress, the Treasury Department said that India's acute second wave weighed heavily on growth through the middle of 2021, delaying its economic recovery. "However, economic activity rebounded strongly in the second half of the year as India's vaccination rollout accelerated," the US Treasury said in its report as it praised India's vaccination efforts. 
Amid the aggravating political turmoil in Islamabad, former Pakistan Prime Minister (and also RAA ka agent) Imran Khan on Friday slammed the new fiscal budget presented by the incumbent Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif-led PML-N government. Calling it "anti-people, anti-business," Khan claimed that the budget is based on "unrealistic assumptions" of economic development and inflation. He went to lash out at Sharif's cabinet for shelving "progressive programs" implemented during his tenure, adding that the budget will "create more burdens and misery" for the nation.

The Russian Federation has condemned Israeli airstrikes at Damascus International Airport and asked the Jewish State to halt such activities in future. In a statement, Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that the ongoing Israeli shelling of the Syrian territory was โ€œabsolutely unacceptableโ€. Branding the attacks as โ€œprovocativeโ€ she denounced the strike on critical Syrian civilian infrastructure.โ€ 
Russian President Vladimir Putin finally authorised Moscow's formal withdrawal from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (WTO) on Friday following a long wait after it was suspended in April over the "unprovoked" attack on Ukraine. The request to quit the Madrid-based organisation was forwarded by the Russian Foreign Ministry and signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Moscow also chastised the UNWTO, accusing the body of "politicisation" of the activities and promoting "discrimination" against Russia.
Speaking to reporters over the arrest of the LeT terrorists, SSP Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, said, "Police and Army got a huge success in the Pattan area. We got a report last month on the 9th that Irfan Ahmad Mir was missing. In the investigation, it was revealed that Mir joined Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The effort is to first get the new recruits back. We tried our best to get this youth. However, another youth Zahid also went missing. He was lured by LeT too. He joined the terrorist outfit as well. Our intelligence activated and we got success after that."
Giving further details, SSP Bhat said, "We received info that these 2 youth were active here. They were targetting minority community members here. The joint team (Army and J&K police) activated. We put an ambush and these two came from the front and were challenged by us. We gave a controlled response considering these were new recruits. We chased and apprehended them."

NP-5 moved from the assembly line, taxi trial soon
LCA-Navy Mk1 NP5 Trainer has completed its fabrication and was recently moved from its assembly line to another section of the LCA-Division in HAL facility in the Bengaluru to commence Low and High speed taxi trials before it is cleared for its first flight sometime later this month or next. NP-5 will be used as a Technology Demonstrator project for the Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF) program.

300km+ Astra Mk3 to be tested in 2024

India is developing two advanced variants of the Astra beyond visual range air-to-air missiles, with one of them capable of striking targets at a range of 160km, when ready, and the other at almost 300km, senior government officials said on Friday on the condition of anonymity.
The Astra Mk-2 and Mk-3 missiles are likely to be tested next year and in 2024 respectively, and are among the Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) key ongoing programmes, said one of the officials. The current Astra Mk-1 variant has a range of around 100km.
Navy invites PM Modi to 'inspect' nearly complete aircraft carrier INS Vikrant

The Indian Navy has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "inspect" the nearly complete INS Vikrant also known as the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier 1 (IAC1) around Independence Day as it has been described as a "symbol of Aatmanirbharata or self-reliance.
The 45,000 tonnes INS Vikrant, being made by the Cochin Shipyards for the last dozen years, is finally about to be completed. It is the first aircraft carrier to be indigenously made, and therefore, a major feat for the Indian shipbuilding industry. The invitation has been sent through the defence ministry.
