China Evergrande Group (3333.HK) is considering repaying offshore public bondholders owed around $19 billion with cash instalments and equity in two of its Hong Kong-listed units, two sources said, as the world's most indebted developer looks to emerge from its financial woes.

Evergrande, whose entire $22.7 billion worth of offshore debt including loans and private bonds is deemed to be in default after missing payment obligations late last year, said in March that it will unveil a preliminary debt restructuring proposal by the end of July.
Japan will take firm steps to restart idled nuclear power plants to make maximum use of nuclear power to stabilise energy prices and supply, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Friday.

"With priority in safety, we will take concrete steps to restart (plants), while the government is not considering to replace" existing nuclear power plants with newer facilities, Kishida told parliament.
Fiji is joining U.S. President Joe Biden's Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), the White House said on Thursday, making it the first Pacific Island country in the plan that is part of a U.S. effort to push back on China's growing regional influence.

The announcement comes as China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi begins a sweeping tour of Pacific Island nations – including Fiji – a region that is becoming an increasingly tense front in competition for influence between Beijing and Washington.
The Reserve Bank of India's primary focus is to bring inflation down closer to target but it cannot disregard the concerns around growth, governor Shaktikanta Das told newspaper Economic Times in an interview published on Friday.

"We are committed to containing inflation. At the same time, we have to keep in mind the requirements of growth. It can't be a situation where the operation is successful and the patient is dead," Das said.
The World Bank said on Thursday that its board had approved $500 million in additional financing to support Turkey in its efforts to fight against COVID-19.

The funds, which will have a maturity of 10.5 years with a five-year grace period, will be used to ensure access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines in Turkey, the bank said.

An additional $250 million will be provided as co-financing from the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB), the bank said, adding that the project aims to help meet the cost vaccine purchases.

The National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Friday said that India has always stood by the people of Afghanistan. Doval was speaking at the 4th Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan at Dushanbe, Tajikistan along with national security advisers from Tajikistan, India, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and China. Discussing the situation in Afghanistan, NSA Doval sent a strong message to the Taliban and emphasised the importance of empowering Kabul to counter-terror and enhance global security.
Appearing in a recently released interview, India’s former ambassador to China Nirupama Rao said, β€œI think that India can do a little more in being an advocate for negotiations and for discussions and for conversations between the Tibetan community in exile and the Chinese.” The interview was conducted as a part of the International Campaign for Tibet Talks series that premiered on May 26.

Japanese government official stated on May 27 that the Group of Seven (G7) developed countries are planning to stop providing new public support for overseas fossil fuel projects by the end of 2022 if, they do not have adequate measures in place to reduce greenhouse emissions. Kyodo news reported citing the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the goal is included in a joint statement drafted by the G7 countries for a ministerial meeting on climate, energy, and environment issues, which is set to conclude later in the day in Berlin.
