I am super happy to announce that ScholarXIV.com has gotten an amazing Angel Investor.
He is investing $10k for 8% of the company at a post-money evaluation of $125k, and also apart from the investment, this investor is paying and helping with the incorporation of the company.
The investor is very incredible first for reaching out and then in that the investment is solely based on me and not on the product itself. Meaning I could pivot, I could decide the date I'll accept the investment and just makes things very flexible for me.
Currently I have decided to deal with the investment after YC applications which the investor is completely fine with but I have now started speeding up the company formation process in the US while expenses are covered by the Angel Investor.
There's still so much to go, so many decisions to make and most importantly so much to build. But even being in this spot and position is all God's good doing and grace. I also would like to thank all of you for the support and encouragement.
This's wonderful news and it's all credits to God.

This is still a start, and lots to go, but I'm very happy to have these amazing options and most of all being connected to an incredible investor.
I am aiming much bigger, MUCH bigger. The only other platform that does what ScholarXIV aimed to do, but even less, is worth $7.4m and me and the investor really understand the worth in this and that's why things are very flexible.

I know it's a bit rare to see founders take things slow. I know and I am well aware that it's still a lot of money (1.6m Birr) and I could take it but deciding to take things slow sometimes is a good decision. The investor is a Christian too btw, and that really helps with taking things wisely.
Ena I'm willing to take things slow, taking the time, because at the end of the day it's not me, it's not the product, it's not YC, it's not the investment, it's not the support, it's only and ONLY the decision of God that will determine my success and I'm willing to trust Him for that.
I know faith makes God happy and I hope this honors the love of my life and my dear God.đ

Nearing 600 registered users now, what that means is that people were trying out so many things and things broke.
So been keeping notes on these errors and spent the night handling all of them.
One of the errors I had and was reported the most was that the MongoDB connection kept closing (
In Vercel, any function is short lived and terminated soon. Which was what I was doing for the MongoDB connection. Vercel would close it if no one's online on ScholarXIV for like a few minutes. So this's something to keep an eye for.
Now I've handled all the error logs I've seen, and I don't have to worry about it being offline. Keep telling me feedbacks, UI or non-UI issues. Thanks.

If the very basic version of ScholarXIV is stable and usable, I can incrementally build all the new features I've been planning comfortably without worrying about affecting the users.
So whenever you get the time try to break things up, report all the UI issues you've noticed, tell me when you see console logs, try spamming it if you'd like, tell me when things are slow, abuse the system. Then just tell me about it and I'll get to it.
A solid foundation is worth the journey tbh.

ScholarXIV would be offline
So after my fixes last night, ScholarXIV was running all day today and though there were 3,000+ requests and much activity and visits not a single error happened, none, 0%

Indexed Papers
Let me quickly explain why indexed papers matter.
So the API arXiv provides is very slow and just wastes so much time. But in ScholarXIV, I take the load off of arXiv and store indexed papers.
Now the front page shows recommended papers, these are already indexed so you can get to do things super fast.
Another is when people keep searching papers, they're all indexed making further searches even faster.
This is a big advantage for using ScholarXIV over self-hosting it or even other services.
So currently having 4.4k papers is pretty useful for using the platform and also the AI features.
