ATS - Applicant Tracking System , it is a system made to kick out CVs that are not related to the Job advertised, in nigeria it has become a norm to send in CVs that are not related to the job and this is why ATS became the filtering machine that will only pick out the best resumes in their best format with the selected keywords chosen by the employer.
Today, I will not be nice to hide details that ATS system rejects, this is the kind of CVs / Format it rejects
1. CVs that has been made from foreign sources ( online or offline ) as long as nigeria is concerned, there are CVs that are unreadable because the format doesn't comply with the nigerian job market
2. Colourful CVs - the CV that you turned to fine art all in the name of having a fine colourful CV , the only acceptable colour in CVs is black, white , blue
3. Scanty CVs - not enough "important" details e.g not adding your Achievements/core operations.
4. Hierarchy: some people put work experience first , bio data second , volunteer third , education forth which is very wrong.
5. Job Advert keywords: this is the most important one on the ATS , if it doesn't find the selected attributes or keywords on your CV - ☺️ it's out
