Dear AEGEEans who want to make Europe a more equal place to live,

We are sending you this message because tomorrow is a very meaningful date. The 8th of March marks the International Women's Day, and the 8th of March marks as well dozens of years of fight in order to make our society a place where you should not fear and suffer discrimination on the basis of being a woman.

Even though we are now more aware than ever of the inequality faced by women and even though strikes and protest keep happening every year and not only on this date, the fight is far from being over. For this reason, AEGEE-Europe decided to make the one-week awareness campaign #Youth4Equity as well as to write an awareness statement on the International Women's Day. We need you, all locals and members to jump in, because... ☝️

...we need to keep making noise! πŸ“’ How, you ask?

It's really simple. We prepared some resources for all of you to take part as easily as it gets. The only thing you need to do is to make sure that you make a post on your personal social media and that of your local/European Body tomorrow 8th of March, following the next steps:

πŸ”Ή1. Add the visual we prepared to your post. Feel free to post it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or any social media you use. πŸ‘‰ (aegee.blogactiv.eu/files/2020/03/1.jpg)

πŸ”Ή2. Add the link to our statement. Feel free to quote certain parts in your post πŸ‘‰ (aegee.blogactiv.eu/2020/03/07/international-womens-day-2020-8th-of-march)

πŸ”Ή3. Use the hashtags #Youth4Equity and #IWD2020 but feel free to use others such as e.g #GenerationEquality

πŸ”Ή4. Always tag the AEGEE-Europe social media! (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter)

Additionally, some locals are organising activities in the month of March on the topic of Gender Equality. Here you have some instances on what your local can do:

⏺ Take part in the AEGEE campaign #Youth4Equity with the materials that we shared with you both here and in the statement.

⏺ Find out how to make your local more gender-friendly in the GENDERS platform, developed by AEGEE-Europe among others.

⏺ Organise a workshop or an activity on gender equality. You can contact the Equal Rights Working Group of AEGEE-Europe for guidelines and assistance (erwg@aegee.eu).

⏺ Implement gender mainstreaming measures in your antenna. HerMainY is a new project of AEGEE-Europe on gender mainstreaming, and currently its first Training for Trainers is happening, in order to equip a pool of trainers with all the skills and knowledge needed to assist you in making your antenna more gender equal. To know more and get in touch with the trainers, you can Contact the Project Manager Eleonora Ceschin (eleonora.ceschin@aegee.eu).

⏺ Organise a fundraiser event and donate the profits to a charity in support of women.

Last but not least, do not forget to join the local protests and strikes from your city for the International Women's Day 2020. A society and a Europe that is truly equal is still far from being a reality, but we do promise you one thing:

Nothing will change if you don't act! πŸ’ͺ
