Annual Family Retreat

Children battling cancer and their families joined together with the Achim B'Yachad volunteers for a weekend of support at the Raleigh Hotel.

Friday's arrival had the families warmly welcomed by a summery themed entrance and an exotically decorated lobby where each of the 473 participants received a cozy sweatshirt.

The program began with the most exciting kid friendly carnival of fun rides and refreshments followed by a parrot show and swimming.

Preparation for Shabbos included a full selection of טועמיה food options and a carefully packaged box filled with goodies along with a הדלקת נרות awaited them in their rooms and cabins.

Lavish heimishe meals were served throughout the Shabbos accompanied By heartwarming זמירות led by a choir and emotional words shared by the father of a patient. Inspiring speeches of חיזוק by the לימנוב רב were absorbed by the parents thirsty for something to come away with. Parents were also given the opportunity to consult with Dr. Cheryl Book (for woman) and Motty Klein LCSW-R (For men) for professional guidance throughout Shabbos.
While adult sessions were taking place, Kids of all ages were occupied with constant entertainment. Each age group was kept stimulated with creative activities.

The weekend concluded with a gourmet Melava Malka on motzei Shabbos with comic relief by the world renowned badchan and entertainer Yoely Lebovitz followed by lebedig dancing.

Families left on Sunday morning rejuvenated; feeling again that they're not alone on their journey.
