To the Wild North Community

Thank you so much for all your help and support that we had during Virtual Tails that took place on September 26th and 27th. Once again I would like to confirm that the charity total came to £417. An amazing amount!

Thank you also to the London Furs who gave us a shout out over the weekend it was really appreciated!

I know some of you also gave us feedback for the convention which has been discussed, so thank you for that as well. We will be addressing the replies very shortly.

We hope you had a fantastic time with us despite being apart, however we have 2021 to look forward to, and I hope we can see a lot of you there.

Take care and stay safe.

Hello Everyone

Thank you for those who gave feedback on Wild North 2020 Virtual Tails. We would like to address some of the comments we received.

Content and timetable:
Firstly, we’re delighted that people enjoyed our programming. The Choose Your Own Adventure was particularly well-received, we’re glad you enjoyed the panels, and we hope you found the quiz a good challenge!
As you know, we decided to hold this event online, once it became apparent we couldn’t meet in person. We had limited time to put everything together, meaning there was not much room for practice runs. We’re aware that a couple items ran ahead of schedule, for example on Sunday afternoon. If you did miss anything, we apologise, but rest assured that videos will be uploaded to Youtube in the near future.

Interactivity and audience participation:
A few people suggested making the event more interactive. This included having more audience participation, for example in The Tavern, as well as the Quiz (for example, live updates of people’s quiz answers/scores). We are unaware how this could work in a Twitch stream, but if anyone has any suggestions, we’d love to know.

More co-hosts and presenters:
Another suggestion was that others take turns of hosting. In normal times, we could have had a few team members in one place. Unfortunately, this was something else that the COVID-19 pandemic ruled out. Alternatively, if we had multiple hosts in different locations, that would require multiple PCs being set up, transferring all required files and information, as well as ensuring that each person if 100% free at their time, and their internet was stable. We decided to keep it to one person running the show, with further content from our attendees and the team.

More focus on con material:
It’s clear that you liked the con material and panels. You suggested we could have had more panels, and perhaps fewer games (like Jackbox). The idea of the games was to interact with our attendees, and a sort of ice breaker. They did indeed run longer than expected, and this was to adjust to get back to the timetable. On reflection, we believe these work best as an ‘end-of-day’ event, when things are more relaxed, and people can join in and chill.

I hope this clears up some of the questions you all had. If you wish to ask more, feel free to get in touch with us any time.

Take care and stay safe

A thank-you message from our charity, the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter:
Good evening everyone.

Thank you to everyone once again for joining us for Wild North Virtual Tails 2020.

It was a fun weekend, and we wished to preserve it.

We have created a Youtube channel with the biggest highlights and events from the con so you can enjoy them all over again, including the Choose Your Own Adventure.

Have fun and stay safe flufftails.
Hello fellow Wild Northers

We hope you are all doing well during this difficult time. The announcement from the government today (22 February), about the roadmap out of lockdown, has given us reason to think about how Wild North will go ahead this year.

It will go ahead for sure, be it physical or virtual.

We do feel, at this point, that it is too early to make an informed decision. As it stands, we wish to take a small step back and watch how things unfold over the next couple of months.

While the government has said that all restrictions should be lifted by 21 June, this is not set in stone, and this is part of the reason we wish to wait before we make a decision.

We would also like to hear your thoughts on how we should proceed. Please click the link here to fill out a very short survey regarding this situation. The survey is open until Sunday 7 March: https://forms.gle/7CTG5a1oF1khrgvk6

At the end of April, we plan to review how things are going in regards to COVID-19, vaccinations, and the easing of restrictions. From there we will make a further announcement and keep you informed.
Hello everyone,

First of all, we would like to thank all of you who have filled in our survey and given us your thoughts in regards to this year's event. We understand that you all have concerns over whether to have a physical or virtual event in late-September, as there was a broad range of opinions on the issue.

The reason we asked for your say is that we want to make an informed decision that organizers and attendees alike will be comfortable with.

The general feeling is it's too early to decide whether to hold a physical or virtual con. We agree, and therefore we will monitor the current situation as it unfolds. By the end of April, we hope to have a better view of things upon which we can base our final decision. That will still give us time to plan the best event possible, whether that's in-person or online.
🎶There once was a con that went to sea
The name of the con? Wild North it be
The year's been hard, all rested now
Oh blow my fluffy tails blow

Soon all the furries will come
With songs and art and a donation
One day when the gathering's done
To charity, gold will go🎶

If you have not guessed it already fluff tails, our theme for this year's Wild North will be Tails of the Seven Seas. So harden up and heave to!

Be it assembling at Featherstone, or gathering online, we aim to bring you songs, music, and entertainment from the rolling waves. Join us for the last weekend of September, OR I'LL SINK YA DOWN TO DAVEY JONES' LOCKER!

Ahoy there fluff tails!

Me and the crew have been plotting and scheming over many a bottle o' Fentimans

We have come to the decision that we do not wish to put any land lubbers in peril this year by accepting crew mates in person.

Fear not though mateys! Like last year we shall bring you fun and adventure once again through a Virtual Voyage on Twitch Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of October!

Keep a weather eye out for further announcements from the crew on what our plans are, and how you can be involved.

Until then me hearties, batten down the hatches and shanty to ya hearts' content!

Ahoy there Flufftails!

We're planning our voyage to make the Wild North a grand adventure. If you wish to be involved, here be a number o' ways:

* For the artists, you can have your artwork showcased during the stream, the more pirates and treasure the better!
* For the musicians, no voyage would be perfect without a good song for the crew to sing on board. We are searching for singers to put on a good sea shanty for everyone to enjoy!
* You can also make a video or run a panel, talking about what you're interested in, whether it be based on our theme or not. We're open to hearing your suggestions. Last year we had videos on furry history, fire poi, and swordplay, and we are sure the viewers would like to see what you can show.

If any of these take ye fancy, enquire within (wildnorthuk@gmail.com). We'd be takin' submissions up to 31st of August.

Ahoy there Flufftails!

We'd like to let you know one of the features of this year's Wild North, we're doing a showcase of the musical variety. Not only are we looking for musicians, but also looking for dancers to show off their moves!

As such, we're accepting video submissions for music and dance performances.

If ye want to share your talents or shake your tails, upload a video of you dancing or playing a song on your favourite instrument, and send them to us (wildnorthuk@gmail.com). Feel free to ask us for any queries you may have.

As we've said before, we are takin' submissions up to the 31st of August.
