Feedback: reminder 2

Thank you for your feedback so far. If you'd still like to submit some, you have until tomorrow (Saturday 14th) to do so:
https://forms.gle/NHHzi11AtMVunrLq7

If the form isn't working, you can also email feedback to events@wildnorth.uk (please put 'Feedback' in the subject line)
Good evening, everyone. It has been two weeks since we closed our feedback form for Wild North 2023. We’re glad to see all the positive and constructive suggestions that we have received.

While some elements of the convention are out of our control, there are changes that we can implement alongside our venue and partners in preparation for Wild North 2024.

Our venue, Featherstone Castle:
* We will review our plan to clean and tidy the castle before you arrive. This includes working closer with the venue staff and inviting more volunteers to help prepare the venue.
* We will provide information on showers and bathroom facilities on the Venue page of our website.
* We will replace the large stones in front of the doors with discreet door stops.
* We will signpost safe routes to avoid busy areas, such as the kitchen.
* We will continue to look out for safety issues before and during your stay, and we will try and resolve them promptly when we find them or you inform us.

Events:
* We will restructure the fursuit photoshoot so it runs more efficiently.

Transport:
* We will provide a sign-up list for Monday transport to remind you of departure times and to ensure adequate transportation is available.

Kitchen:
* We will discuss how to provide more vegan and vegetarian options for those who want them.
* We will have a food monitor present to ensure everyone has eaten before offering seconds.
* We will move the tea and coffee facilities upstairs, where there is more space.
* We will issue a questionnaire to kitchen volunteers to better understand their skills so we have adequate experience for each shift.
* We will announce when the food is ready to save you from queueing.
* We will sign and label the food we serve - including the vegan and vegetarian options.
* We will ensure to brief kitchen volunteers, give clear and detailed instructions, and supervise them.
* We will introduce ‘serving’ and ‘clearing-up’ volunteers so the kitchen volunteers can focus on cooking.
* Following the success of Jethro’s, we will look into continuing to work with food vendors to provide meals.
* We will provide a kitchen rota outside the kitchen so volunteers can look up when their shift times will be.
* We will ensure we have the necessary equipment to prepare and transport meals. This will include grills, warming trays, and rice cookers…

General:
* We will re-evaluate how to share tasks fairly among all attendees.
* We will move our noticeboard from the Blue Room to Con Ops so you can see any notices or timetable changes more quickly.
* We will ensure that the Blue Room is a quiet space and request any noisy electronics be used elsewhere.
* We will review and update our fire safety and evacuation procedures.
* We will make event timetables and maps more prominent and put them in more places around the venue.
* We will put up clocks so attendees can enjoy the event without relying on their phones.
* We will put up more room name signs.
* We will look into a timed sign-up system for the showers.
* We will ensure people keep noise levels reasonable in the late evening (per rule 12h of the Code of Conduct).

We have had several ideas put forward for events - thank you for these.
We'll let you know through official channels where and when to submit event ideas.

Just so you know, we will be deleting attendee information from the reg system, in line with Data Protection rules, unless you ask us to save your details. Please enter your details again when you register.

With 2024 registration some time away, it’s the part of the con cycle where we hibernate!

However, we will continue to work behind the scenes.

The Telegram, Discord, and Facebook pages will still be available. And, of course, you can contact the organisers on Telegram (@WildNorthEvents) or email us at events@wildnorth.uk.

Yours sincerely,
The Wild North Team

Be sure to follow us to find out more.

Help make Wild North happen!
We are looking for two new Team Members to get involved with organising the event, including one creative lead.

Being a Wild North Team Member will involve:
• Lending a hand before and during the event.
• Team chats - once a fortnight (or less frequently), except in August and September, where they'll become weekly in the lead-up to the event.
• The occasional extra task or supporting other organisers.

The creative lead role will also involve the following:
• Designing the conbook.
• Plan and set up the venue for the event’s theme.

Experience with desktop publishing software such as InDesign is preferred, but those willing to learn are welcome (guidance will be provided).

Please note, for both roles, you'll need to be attending Wild North 2024.

In return, you will get:
• Insight into running a residential furry event
• Support from experienced organisers
• The satisfaction of helping your fellow furs!

Interested? Please email events@wildnorth.uk, and we will get back to you.
Closing date – Friday 1 March

If you applied in July 2023, we will consider you again this time. You don't have to apply again.

We may also have a chat with you. This would be in the week commencing Monday 4 March.
Good evening Flufftails,

We’re pleased to announce that registration for Wild North will officially start at the end of this month. There are two key dates:
* As a thank-you to those who attended in 2023, you will receive an email at around 7 pm on Friday, 29th March, with a code, allowing you to register one week early!
* For everyone else, registration will officially open at 7 pm on Friday, 5th April.

You will have 28 days from the day you register to pay for Wild North.

Prices
We're happy to reveal that there will be no change to the prices this year, meaning the registration prices are as follows:

Full - £185
Weekend - £125
Day - £65
T-Shirt - £15

We can accept payment by bank transfer, debit/credit cards, and cash.

Set up day
Want to help get Wild North off to a great start? This year, you can arrive from 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 26th, to help the Organisers unload vehicles, prepare the venue, and set up.

Some points to note:
- People will be expected to help with set up. This is different to 'early arrival' days at other conventions.
- The cost of this extra day is £35, to cover food and accommodation.

Room Selection
Attendees will be able to select the room they wish to stay in from Saturday 6th April at 7pm, regardless of when they register. This is to allow everyone a fair opportunity to choose their room.

If you paid before the 6th, do not worry if your payment is marked as "outstanding". We will process all payments together.

Supporter
You will also have the option to contribute a little extra to support the convention. Depending on the amount, you will receive a bonus reward:
* A mention in the conbook - £10 or more
* Supporter pack (including a drinking vessel) plus the honourable mention - £25 or more
If you want these bonus rewards, please donate by Friday, 12th July.

Volunteering
Wild North is what it is because of your gracious support. Teamwork and community spirit have been our primary focus. We will be asking all attendees to get involved in shaping our event, with Organisers to provide support. The registration form will let you choose where to volunteer your time. Here are the different volunteer roles on offer:

Cooking
At Wild North, we provide catering, so we need paws in the kitchen to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Meal Serving
If you prefer, we also need paws to help carry food from the kitchen to the dining area.

Kitchen Cleaning
We would also appreciate extra help in the kitchen to clean dishes and utensils and put them away afterwards.

First Aiders
We're seeking qualified first aiders (minimum Emergency First Aid at Work) to assist our attendees.

Steward
This role is for those who want to direct attendees if they need to go somewhere in the venue during the day.

Con-Ops
To answer questions on the front desk in the Gun Room and pass on queries to the Organisers.

Housekeeping
To tidy up the event rooms and ensure the bathrooms are stocked and replenished.

Welcome Team
Those who would like to be the first friendly face to meet people upon arrival at the convention, help them with check-in, and show them to their rooms.

Evening Flufftails,

Firstly, we want to say how awesome it is that you want to participate in Wild North this year! We had filled up in less than 24 hours, and lots of you want to support us to make this year even better.

Thanks to your contributions, this convention is what it is. To show off your creative skills, you can contribute artwork and stories of adventures in enchanted forests for our conbook. What makes the forest enchanted is up to you!

If you want to include Twizell or one of his friends as characters, or Featherstone Castle as a nearby setting, we have a page with all the references to help you: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zcUrkiALoQtp7gYQ1rpOeQT1VZu_qabS/edit

Please keep in mind the following art requirements:
* Between 300 dpi and 600 dpi (600 recommended)
* The shortest edge of the image should be no smaller than 900 pixels to ensure it's a high enough resolution to print.
* CMYK files for preference.
* If you're submitting an image with a transparent background, please submit it as a PSD file.

As well as the following requirements for writing:
* Please keep it to under 1000 words.

And for both:
* No content over PG-13.

The deadline for submissions is 30th June. Files can be sent to us by email (events@wildnorth.uk) or Telegram (@WildNorthComms). Be sure to specify what kind of artwork you're submitting (i.e. "Artwork", "Story", "Conbook"), and the files are uncompressed, so they are of the highest quality.
Looking forward to being impressed!

~Twizell
Evening Flufftails!

Registration opened over two weeks ago, and we're happy to see that most have fully paid. Those who are due to pay will be reminded by email shortly before the deadline. If payment has not been made 28 days after registration, your place will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.

If you feel you will have difficulty paying on time, please contact us by email (events@wildnorth.uk) or Telegram (@WildNorthComms).

For all who have registered, we're happy to see that some of you have already volunteered for duties. Please fill out your preferred duties on the RegSys to help Wild North be as good as possible.

We are still looking for people with a valid First Aid training certificate to volunteer as First Aiders.

We are also looking for qualified Mental Health First Aiders. The same certificate requirements apply.

Thank you all for your support!

~Twizell
Evening Flufftails,

We're happy to announce that the Trading Post will return this year!

We are looking forward to seeing your wares!
