Evening Flufftails!

Hope you all have recovered after a fantastic con last week. We have recovered some items that have been left behind, if you believe any of the following are yours, be sure to let us know in @WildNorthComms or our email events@wildnorth.uk:

1 Purple wool hat
2 Green Towels
1 Battery Pack
Hello everyone! Thank you to all who attended Wild North 2024: The Enchanted Forest.

Seeing all the photos and memories shared in the chats and on social media has been fantastic. There had been worries that we would be in for a rainy weekend, but miraculously, the convention was dry until the very last day. We even got to see the stars one evening.

Now, onto the announcements:

Little Paws Ferret Rescue have told us how much they enjoyed their return to Featherstone Castle. Our charity total last year was already impressive enough, but against all odds, you all have exceeded expectations. This year, we raised a total of £1,083.39! No doubt they will be delighted by your support and generosity.

As you may know, the team here is always open to feedback and suggestions to improve next year’s Wild North. Therefore, if you have any ideas, thoughts, or general comments (anonymous if you wish), we have a feedback form for you all to fill in. The form will be open until Friday 18th October. Based on the responses we receive, we will publish a follow-up newsletter on all channels: https://forms.gle/UQZ7Yhh8kZZTU4S28

Wild North will return on the 26th to 29th September 2025. Registration will open in the new year (be on the lookout for future announcements), but you can save your details for next year on the registration site right now: https://regsys.myfurry.name/NEU/User/?id=5

We look forward to seeing you as Twizell travels to our new larger home in Chester-le-Street for Wild North: Haunted Halls.
Hello everyone! We appreciate all the detailed feedback and suggestions we received this year. After reviewing all your responses and discussing them as a team, we have written down a list of changes we wish to implement to address your feedback.

While some issues are beyond our control, here’s how we plan to use your feedback to make the experience better for everyone for Wild North 2025:

Accessibility:
* We will prioritise mobility and accessibility, ensuring our activities are accessible. This will include providing enough space for people to move around and level access and ramps wherever possible.
* Our priority will also extend to printed materials such as our conbook, conbadges, and room signage, ensuring they are clear and meet accessibility standards.
* We will make sure any official maps and timetables are kept up to date with changes.

Newcomers:
* We were glad to see some new faces amongst our attendees this year. Still, we appreciate that our convention is unique compared to other furry events in the United Kingdom, which comes with unique expectations. As such, we will review our advice for first-timers, including what they should bring, so they have a seamless start to the con.

Events:
* We will provide daily updates of events, both online and at con-ops.
* We were glad to read plenty of positive feedback about the events we had this year and the variety on offer. We will continue to offer a range of events, and we welcome your suggestions and offers for events to run next year.
* Next year, We will improve our process for submitting and checking donations to our charity raffle.
* As our Trading Post becomes more established, so do people’s expectations around it. We will ensure our planning and guidelines are thorough so traders know what to expect.

Transport:
* We plan to will increase the number of shuttle services for people arriving by public transport.
* We are also looking into cafes and restaurants to recommend in Chester-le-Street whilst you wait for your shuttle or your journey home.

Volunteering:
* We appreciate all the attendees who took time out to help us make the convention enjoyable for everyone. As such, we will continue to offer plenty of opportunities for people to volunteer, whether at con-ops, as event stewards, or elsewhere.
* We will also ensure that volunteers are fully prepared for their roles. This will include briefings, FAQ sheets, radio training, and a clear setting of expectations for both volunteers and organisers.
* We will issue first aiders with a different-coloured lanyard so they are easily visible to attendees in emergencies.

Featherstone Castle and Catering:
As you know, 2024 is our last year at Featherstone Castle. We appreciate the feedback you’ve given about our venue for the past four iterations and the hard work of our kitchen and catering volunteers. We will pass relevant feedback to Featherstone Castle, which includes:
* Heating – ensuring centrally heated areas are warm enough.
* Our appreciation for the renovations (for example, the Oak Hall staircase).
* Suggesting further improvements, such as fixing uneven floors and providing ramps for small single steps.
* The condition of the riverside path – although the eroded section is beyond the castle’s property boundaries, the venue can inform future groups.

Lumley Castle:
Lastly, we are aware of discussions around our new venue for 2025. As such:
* We will do our utmost to continue the unique experience that Wild North provides. With a maximum attendance count of 100, we are confident we can keep the personal feel of our con.
* Moreover, many of our most popular events will continue, including Swordplay workshops and the Kubb Tournament.
* We plan to provide multiple attending options, including attending-only and day access. We hope this will allow as many of you as possible to join us. In the next couple of months, we plan to announce prices for the con.
* Like our old venue, our new venue is a medieval castle. As such, we aim to maintain our relaxed props policy, and we will speak with the venue to
ensure you can enjoy the surroundings as you like.
* Attendees enjoyed the ability to switch off from modern life during our con so we will continue with this philosophy. You won’t need a mobile phone or any technology to participate in Wild North. We will continue to provide daily updates at the con-ops noticeboard alongside updates on Telegram.
* We will prepare floor plans and maps to ensure our new venue is easy to navigate.
* Twizell is also considering acquiring a flag and discussing where to fly it with the venue.

Following Data Protection rules, we will delete attendee information from the registration system unless you have asked us to save your details. If you need to, please enter your details again when registration opens in 2025.

This is the part of the con cycle when we hibernate! However, we will continue to work behind the scenes. The Telegram, Discord, Facebook, and Bluesky pages will remain available. Of course, you can contact the organisers on Telegram (@WildNorthComms) or email us at events@wildnorth.uk.

Yours sincerely,

The Wild North Team

(Please note: registration dates have been updated, following attendee feedback. Please see the new details below.)

Hello Flufftails!

We hope all of you enjoyed the beginning of the New Year. We are happy to inform you of the registration details for Wild North this year!

Residential registration opens for last year's attendees at 7 p.m. on Friday, 31 January, 2025, and for everyone else at 7 p.m. on Friday, 7 February 2025.

For all registrations up to 3 March, you have until Monday, 31 March to pay. Registering from 4 March onwards means you will have 28 days to pay.

Rooms and Prices
Our new venue represents a clear upgrade in quality, and our prices have had to change accordingly.

We have done our best to keep prices as affordable as possible and in line with other UK furry conventions while aiming for the best Wild North experience.

Courtyard Classic Room: £310
Courtyard Superior Room: £365
Castle Classic Room: £365

These prices are per person and they include your attendance fee. Breakfast is included in the price (see Meals section).

Most rooms are doubles. We have a limited number of twin rooms in our room block – please contact us when reg opens to request one.

There are two accessible bedrooms with walk-in showers. If you would like an accessible room, please contact us.

As a reminder, the event runs from Friday 26 September to Monday 29 September 2025. If you would like to arrive a day early (on Thursday 25 September), the additional costs per person are:

Courtyard Classic Room: £70
Courtyard Superior Room: £88
Castle Classic Room: £88

Attending-only registration
This will open alongside residential registration and is subject to availability. The price is £100.

Day tickets will be subject to availability. We will give more information about them in due course.

T-shirts
Souvenir T-shirts are available to pre-order for £15.

Supporters
As we are a small event, we appreciate any and all support our attendees can give. This helps us make it the best event we can, especially with an adventure in a new venue.

If you do wish to support us to certain amounts, you will earn some goodies as a token of our appreciation:

£25 or more: mention in conbook and drinking vessel
£50 or more: the same, plus extra goodies

Meals
Breakfast is included for residential guests.

We are also inviting people to apply for our meal package, which includes:
- A lunch buffet on Saturday and Sunday
- The Badger’s Banquet: a 3-course meal (starter, main, dessert), on either Saturday or Sunday evening, in the surrounds of the Baron’s Hall.

These will only take place if we have enough sign-ups. We need 50 for the lunch buffet and 80 for the banquet.

When you register, you can state your interest in this option. To be clear, you will not need to pay when you register. Payments will only be requested if we reach the numbers. The price is £55.

We are really excited about these plans, so we hope you can join us!

2025 Registration - Starting soon!

Registration for Wild North 2025 will be opening very soon. Here’s how it will work:

* Everyone who attended Wild North 2024 will receive an email at around 7 pm on Friday, 31st January, with a link to the early registration page.
* For everyone else, registration will open at 7 pm on Friday, 7th February.

Please see our previous announcement for room options, prices, Supporter information, and meal options.

And remember, if you register before or on 3rd March, you have until 31st March to pay. From 4th March onwards, you will have 28 days from the day you register.

Room Allocation
The room allocation process is as follows:
* All preferences will be recorded on the reg system.
* Choose your preferred room category (Courtyard Classic, Courtyard Superior, Castle Classic, etc.) and bed arrangements (double, twin, single).
* When you register, you will see a space to state the name of a preferred roommate. There won’t be any share codes or badge numbers to swap: a name will do. You can leave the space blank if you don’t have a roommate.

After 48 hours, reg will be paused, and any oversubscribed room types will be randomly assigned. To be considered for a double or twin room, you will need to state a room partner. Those who miss out will be offered an alternative with the same bed arrangement, if such rooms are still available. For example: miss out on a Courtyard Classic twin, be offered a Courtyard Superior twin. You then have the option to take the offer, or to make other arrangements, which may include going non-residential.

Trading Post
Applications will open on Friday 7th February. Please see this web page for more information: https://www.wildnorth.uk/trading-post
