After the burial of Uncle Hussain Giga (may Allah give him Jannah), brother Abu Sumayyah reminded everyone to make dua in accordance with the sunnah - which is to make dua by yourself and NOT in congregation.

Uthman Ibn ‘Affān narrated, ‘Whenever the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) finished the burial of the dead, he would stand by the grave and say,
“Seek forgiveness for your brother and pray for him to be steadfast, because he is now being questioned.”
[Abu Dawud]
The truth often is with the minority of people and not the majority. The early Sahaba were few in number and the larger community would often criticise them for going against the majority, for going against the traditions of their forefathers. Whoever followed the larger community in reality were destroyed and whoever was amongst the minority were guided and saved from destruction.

Al-Fudayl ibn Iyaad (may Allah have mercy upon him - d.187H) sad:

"Adhere to the path of guidance and you will not be harmed by the few numbers of those who follow it. And beware of the paths of misguidance and do not be deceived by the large numbers of those who are destroyed".

[Al-Itisām 1/132 of Al-Shātibi]
Ibn رحمه الله Bāz:

Abstaining from Dunyā means avoiding whatever Allāh has forbidden you of it and avoiding that which distracts you from the Ākhirah and abstaining from people means not begging them, if Allāh suffices you then do not beg from people.

Praying Qiyaam al-Layl In Congregation Is A Innovation In The Religion (Bid'ah)!

Sheikh Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy upon him) said;

"With regard to a group agreeing to meet on a certain night to pray (in congregation) qiyaam al-layl, this is bid’ah, because praying qiyaam in congregation is not prescribed, unless that happens occasionally without prior agreement and unintentionally, as happened with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم with Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).”
