TAWHEED in its general meaning is the belief of singling out Allah, The Mighty and Majestic, alone for Lordship, having sincerity of worship towards Him and affirming His Names and Attributes. ⁣
It is of three types: ⁣
1) Tawheed ar-Rububiyyah ⁣
2) Tawheed al-Ibaadah⁣
3) Tawheed al-asma' was-Sifaat⁣

It is necessary to explain the meaning of each type in order to clarify the distinction between them. ⁣

■ TAWHEED AR-RUBUBIYYAH ■⁣

It is to single out Allah alone in His unique actions, with the belief that He is the only Creator of all the creation: ⁣
》“Allah is the Creator of all things.” [az Zumar 39: 62] ⁣

He is the Sustainer of all the animals. the people and everything else: ⁣
》“And there is no living creature on earth but its provision is due from Allah.” [Hud 11:6] ⁣

He is the Owner of the dominion, the One who manages all the affairs of the world. He brings some near to Him and distances othem. He honours some and brings humiliation upon others. He has the ability to do everything. He alternates the night and the day and gives life and death: ⁣

》Say, "O Allah, Owner of the dominion, You give the dominion to whom You will and You take the dominion away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humiliate whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things all-powerful.⁣
You cause the night to enter the day, and You cause the day to enter the night; and You bring the living out of the dead, and You bring the dead out of the living. And You give provision to whom You will without account."⁣
[Al-Imran 3:26-27]

⁣⁣
■ TAWHEED Al-IBAADAH also known as TAWHEED AL-ULUHIYYAH ■⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It is to single out Allah alone in all acts of worship, with the belief that all acts of worship are only done for Allah with an intention for Him alone: ⁣

》“I bear witness there is nothing worthy to be worshipped except Allah.” [Shahada]⁣
⁣⁣
》“And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is deity except Me, so worship Me."” [Al-Anbiyaa 21:25] ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
All acts of worship are for Allah alone including praying, sacrificing of an animal, fasting, suplicating and loving.⁣
⁣⁣
》Say, "Verily, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of all that which exists." [Al-Anaam 6:162]⁣

》And your Lord says, "Call upon me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who are too proud to worship me will enter Hell in humiliation. [Ghafir 20:40]⁣

》"Supplication (Dua) is worship." [Abu Dawud, book 17, hadith 1465]⁣

》"Yet of mankind are some who take others as equals to Allah. They love them as they (should) love Allah. But those who believe are stronger in their love for Allah." [Al-Baqara 2:165]

■ TAWHEED Al-ASMA' WAS-SIFAAT ■⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
It is to single out Allah alone with the unique names (asma') & attributes (sifaat) that He has named & described Himself with, in the Qur'an & ahadeeth of His messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. ⁣
It is to affirm all of Allah's names & attributes in an absolute sense without any alteration, whether in words or meaning. ⁣⁣

》“To Him belongs all The Best Names. All that is in the Heavens and the earth glorify Him. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.” [Al-Mumtahinah 60: 24]⁣
⁣⁣⁣
It is important to understand that whilst we affirm the names & attributes of Allah without distorting or changing their meanings, at the same time Allah negates any similarities between Himself & His creation. Allah is unique in His names & attributes and there is nothing like him. ⁣⁣⁣

》"There is nothing like unto Him, and He is The All Hearing, The All Seeing."⁣
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
■ THE FIRST 10 DAYS OF DHU'L HIJJAH ■⁣

Among the special seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhu͛l-Hijjah, which Allah has preferred over all the other days of the year. The first 10 days of Dhu'l Hijjah are the best days of the year, so we should increase in doing righteous deeds.⁣

Allah swears an oath by them, and when Allah swears an oath by something this is indicative of its importance and great benefit.⁣ Allah says:⁣

》"By the dawn; And by the ten nights". [Al-Fajr 89:1-2]⁣

Ibn Kathir mentions in his tafsir (commentary) that: "The ten nights' refers to the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. This was said by Ibn `Abbas, Ibn Zubayr, Mujahid and others among the Salaf and the latter generations. ⁣

》Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said:⁣
"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." The people asked, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allah?" He said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing." ⁣
[Reported by al-Bukhaari, 2/457]⁣

》Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar reported that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said:⁣ "There are no days greater in the sight of Allah and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel ("La ilaaha ill-Allaah"), Takbeer (Allahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah)." ⁣
[Reported by Ahmad, 7/224; Ahmad Shaakir stated that it is sahih]
As the Hujjaj travel to the sacred lands, upon them is the journey of a lifetime..a journey like no other they have made before.

May Allah swt make their journey easy and accept from them this great act of worship; and return them home sin-free, like the day their mother gave birth to them. Aameen.
■⁣ OFFERING THE SACRIFICE ■⁣

The tenth day of Dhul-Hiijah is the best day of the entire year and is known as the day of An-Nahr (sacrifice), since it marks the ending of the major rites of Hajj (Pilgrimage), and commemorates the bounty and mercy of Allah, The Most High – in that He gave His beloved Prophet Ibraheem ’alayhis-salaam – a ram to sacrifice in place of his first born son Isma’eel ’alayhis-salaam.⁣

The word Udhiyah or Qurbani means an animal of the ‘an’aam class (i.e., camel, cow, sheep or goat) that is slaughtered during the days of Eid al-Adha because of the Eid and as an act of worship, intending to draw closer to Allah. It is one of the rituals of Islam.⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
》‘Aa’ishah reported that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم ordered that a ram with black legs, black belly and black circles around the eyes should be brought to him, so that he could sacrifice it. He said to ‘Aa’ishah: ⁣
“Give me the knife,” and she did that. He took it, then he took the ram, placed it on the ground and then slaughtered it (i.e., prepared to slaughter it), saying: ⁣
“In the name of Allaah, O Allaah, accept (this sacrifice) on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad and the ummah of Muhammad.” Then he sacrificed it. ⁣
[Sunan Abi Dawud, 2792]⁣

■ WHO IS REQUIRED TO OFFER THE SACRIFICE? ■⁣

As long as a person is financially able to offer the sacrifice, one sheep or one-seventh of a cow or camel, is sufficient on behalf of a man and the members of his household, including his wife, children and parents, if they all live in one house.⁣

》Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said:⁣
“Whoever can afford it, but does not offer a sacrifice, let him not come near our prayer place.” ⁣
[Sunan ibn Matah, 3123]⁣

》Abu Ayub al-Ansaari said: “At the time of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم, a man would sacrifice a sheep on behalf of himself and his household, and they would eat some and give some to others.” ⁣
[Tirmidhi, 1505]⁣

■ CONDITIONS UPON THE PERSON OFFERING THE SACRIFICE ■⁣

The Sunnah indicates that the one who wants to offer a sacrifice must intentionally; ⁣
1) Stop cutting his hair ⁣
2) Stop cutting his nails ⁣
3) Stop removing anything from his skin. ⁣
This is from the START of the ten days until AFTER he has offered his sacrifice. This condition is only upon the one who is intending to offer the sacrifice and does not apply to his family members.⁣

》Umm Salamah narrated that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said:⁣
“When you see the new moon of Dhu’l-Hijjah, and one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him refrain from (removing anything) from his hair or nails.” [Sahih Muslim, 1977] According to another version: “Let him not remove anything of his hair or skin.”⁣

■ TIMING OF THE SACRIFICE ■⁣

The sacrifice is to be done AFTER the Eid prayer. It can be performed up to 3 days after but NOT before the Eid prayer.⁣

》Jundab narrated that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said;⁣
'Whoever slaughters an animal before praying (the ‘Eid Prayer) should slaughter another animal (as sacrifice) in its place." [Sahih al-Bukhari, 497]⁣

■ WHAT SHOULD BE DONE WITH THE MEAT? ⁣

It is prescribed for the person who offers the sacrifice to eat some of the meat, to give some as gifts, and to give some in charity.⁣

》“Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor having a hard time” [Al-Hajj 22:28] ⁣

》‘Aa’ishah narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said: “Eat some, store some and give some in charity.”⁣
[Sahih Muslim]

Importance of Aqeedah:

Aqeedah (creed and belief) is the foundation of the religion and it (‘aqeedah) is what is contained in the testification (shahaadah) that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) is the Messenger of Allaah. And it is the first pillar from the pillars of Islaam.

This also includes the six pillars of Iman:

• Belief in Allaah
• Belief in the angels
• Belief in the revealed books
• Belief in the messengers (peace be upon them)
• Belief in the day of judgement
• Belief in predestination (Qadr) - the good and bad

Therefore it is incumbent upon every Muslim to give importance to learning and acquiring knowledge about it.
💎 A Concise Advice
To The Muslim In These Times.

By ‘Allaamah Ahmad an-Najmee (رحمه الله تعالى)

Question: What do you advise the Muslim with in these days of ours?

Answer:

I advise him to live his life upon Tawheed and upon the sound ‘Aqeedah – that he should pay attention to fulfilling the obligations and be far away from sins, and far from the forbidden affairs. That he should keep company with the best of people and avoid the company of the wicked. He should follow the Sunnah and keep away from bid’ah – to be cautious and beware of tribulations (fitan) that are plentiful in these times. I advise him to cling to his home and to weep over his sins, just as the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam) said: “Cling to you home, and weep over your sins.”

And with Allaah is success.
End.
