These groups would typically be unable to order and bring food to the tables on their own to begin with, and would probably have someone to accompany them. We are aware of a post circulating via WhatsApp about hawker centres being closed today. This is a usual list referring to hawker centres that are closed for regular spring cleaning and Repairs & Redecoration works. Routine spring cleaning is conducted quarterly, and can vary in duration from 1 to 3 days. Regular cleaning will enhance the cleanliness of our hawker centres, allowing patrons to dine in a clean, hygienic and safe environment. When visiting #OurHawkerCentres and markets, comply with Safe Management Measures (SMMs) to keep our community safe. There has been feedback that groups tend to linger and lapse into SMM breaches at specific hawker centres, and we have stepped up enforcement at these places.

Some offenders start picking up their litter when they see our Enforcement Officers approaching. This does not mean that the offence can be written off. Remember to properly dispose of your litter in bins at all times, or hold onto it until a bin is available. #keepSGclean
