Personal Note
I vividly remember the start of the War on Terror. I was a younger adolescent at the time.
I remember the entire country engulfed overnight in confusion, distrust, and a bloodlust anger after what was done to the New York Towers.
I remember the immediate and enduring curtailments to basic Constitutional protections in the domestic USA, like the Right to unharassed Travel upon the territory of the several states of the union.
I remember some of my classmates on the school bus crying the following year, because a Reservist parent or family member was being activated for duty. Over the high school years that followed, at least 5 of those friends’ family members didn’t come home from Afghanistan/Iraq.
One of my good friends nowadays is an Hon. discharged USAF vet, 5x deployed with 2 live combat engagements, and wounded in the line of duty on his last tour. He was shot at 29yrs old through the hull of the C130 he was on, while providing close air support to US service-members pinned down on the ground near Mosul, Iraq. He very nearly didn’t make it, and the various medivac-airlift missions he had completed prior to that last flight left him truly scarred psychologically. He is an inspiration to me in ways that are hard to articulate, and he still struggles with some of those scars to this day.
I trust President Trump. Completely. With that said, should the moment ever come where more US service members end up deployed to an unwinnable and un-American war overseas, both myself and hundreds of millions of Americans would reconsider their position on Donald Trump; and it would split the MAGA revolution in a profound and irrecoverable way.
I believe Trump knows this, which is a big part of why I am continuing to trust the President’s judgment. I just do not believe he would endanger his wife and children, and family legacy forever, by selling-out to forever-wars at this stage in the great awakening (10 years on). But no matter what he or any others might do, the only compass that will ever guide my decisions on America’s involvement in military conflicts is the 2015 memory of my friend only 2 months after he got out, running at me and the guys next to me at full speed while screaming, “get down!”, after a rowdy neighbor decided to shoot off unannounced fireworks for their Thanksgiving celebrations.
No matter what happens in the USA over the coming days, Patriots must remember the lessons of 2001-2017.
No more war.
