France says controlling inflation is main priority for 2023 budget

The fight against inflation is the biggest priority, France's finance minister said on Monday, as he delivered a 2023 budget subject to what he called 'unprecedented uncertainty' due to the fallout from Russia's war against Ukraine.

🔥 Either way, this movie pictured a thought that is increasingly present in the French collective consciousness: such events as the 2005 riots might come back with greater strength, and maybe, all we need is a spark.

🇫🇷⚔️JUST IN: FRENCH MILITARY WILL TRAIN UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS

👉🏻 The Ministry of the Armed Forces has decided to support the training mission for Ukrainian soldiers decided this summer by the European Union and has established the main principles of its participation.

🔎 The French military will settle in Poland, where they will provide five weeks of training in dedicated military camps. The general staff has indicated its desire to move quickly and to be operational before the end of 2022.

🇫🇷🍼📊 Nearly one-third of women of childbearing age do not want children, survey finds

👉🏻 A third of women of childbearing age do not want to have children. This is what a survey conducted by «Elle magazine» in partnership with Ifop and published this Wednesday reveals. The survey was conducted among a representative sample of 2005 childless women aged between 18 and 49 years old, and in physical capacity to procreate.

🔎 Unsurprisingly, nearly half of the green party supporters (48%) would like to remain childless, while on the right, the majority of women still express a desire to have children. The same is true of feminist and ecologist affinities: 50% of women who consider themselves "very feminist" and 54% who say they are "very ecologist" do not wish to have children.

🍼 There is also a strong disparity in the desire to have children according to the socio-professional category of the women interviewed. While the vast majority of working class women continue to want to become mothers, 36% of female company managers prefer to remain "childfree".

Police in Paris arrested three men on Tuesday as part of a sprawling investigation into alleged abuse of vulnerable women in the French pornography industry. In response French senators have proposed a raft of measures including stronger regulations to block under-18s from accessing online porn.

French refinery strikes takes half of the nation’s refining capacity offline - forcing France’s largest sugar maker, Tereos, to curtail production

Diesel and petrol stations in France are running out of fuel, according to an industry union, as a refining strike takes its toll. The strike, which among others, took Total’s 240,000 bpd Gonfreville refinery offline as well as a couple of Exxon’s, was expected to conclude on Thursday…but Friday, reports came in that strikes were disrupting Total’s oil products refining and delivery for a fourth day — 60% of the nation’s total refining capacity.

“There is no need to rush to the station (for gas),” TotalEnergies said on Friday. Despite those affirmations, France’s largest sugar maker, Tereos, said it had to curtail production somewhat at some of its factories after Total advised it that it would not be able to supply it with any more diesel until the end of the week.

France was already battling a shortage of refined products, with Russia’s exports to Europe “falling” in recent months.
