🔎 He is said to be a pensioner and/or a former candidate for the municipal elections of the Rassemblement Nationale in a small town in the Hérault department.

⚠️ The information is not confirmed but comes from a police source and is considered credible.

📌 As a reminder, in Montpellier, a French citizen who was carrying a French flag on his car was attacked by a crowd of Moroccans. While fleeing to protect himself, the Frenchman ran over several Moroccans, killing a 13 year old rioter.

According to Le Figaro, citing a police source, the police arrested 40 nationalist militants who wanted to take advantage of the chaos in Paris to attack Muslims and in particular to "attack or damage a Muslim place of worship in the 5th arrondissement".

The group was armed and the members will be tried in immediate appearance for "carrying a prohibited weapon" and "grouping to commit violence".

👉🏻 As the conflict with Russia continues, the Paris branch of the CEPR think-tank released last Wednesday a 460-pages report, on the subject of "rebuilding and reforming Ukraine".

🔎 The report is essentially focused on policies for Ukraine, but one passage in its introduction mention possible outcomes of the war:

🗣 [...] For example, the war can result in the fragmentation of the Russian empire into several dozen states shaped by economic or ethnic factors (Kuzio 2022). It is unclear whether these states will lean towards a democratic model or an authoritarian one.

On the other hand, Russia may turn into ‘another North Korea’ with even more repression and state control over the economy. We do not cover these alternatives but we assume that the state(s) on the eastern border of Ukraine will remain hostile to Ukraine.

In other words, future Ukraine may be similar to current Israel or South Korea security-wise.
