🎊✨A Wednesday that will be etched in our memories forever! What an incredible day it has been!✨🎊
On Wednesday, April 17th, GDSC AASTU had the incredible honor of hosting one of the grandest events of the year - the AASTU Tech Fest 2024, in collaboration with AASTU, CGI AASTU, and Ahamnes Space Science Club.🎊
Kicking off the event with a captivating speech by our esteemed university president, Dr. Derege, the event seemingly became exciting as it goes by. Proceeding, we showcased our students Hackathon project which was fascinating👨💻👩💻Then we had an electrifying Panel Discussion on "Making an Impact in Africa and Driving Change through Tech" unfolded, featuring outstanding panelists such as Solomon Kassa (TV personality - techtalk and Co-founder of 1888ec)🤩, Addis Alemayehou (CEO of Kazana Groups)😎, Emre Varol (CEO of A2SV)🤩, and the remarkable Mirafe Gebriel (General manager of ALX and Sand Technologies)😎 who shone as both moderator and panelist. From Addis Alemayehou's push-ups 💪to engaging discussions, this panel session delivered profound insights.✨
The event then took a surprise turn with the unveiling of the Appreciation and Impact Awards.🎁 Honoring and recognizing the influential figures on campus, the Appreciation Award was graciously received by our university president, Dr. Derege, and Dr. Solomon from Student Affairs🫡. The Impact Award segment was a highlight as it honored students and alumni whose contributions left a lasting mark on AASTU. The special part was watching our MC, Dagmawi Esayas, our former lead Amanunel Kebede, and our former co-lead and mentor Gemechis Elias being pleasantly surprised and deeply honored while receiving the award from our incredible guests hands🎊. Oh, it was so special. ✨
⚡️Following the impact award, we had lunch and networking session where attendees socialized and looked for opportunities from our sponsor and partner companies. After every session we had our sponsors and partners present their opportunities for the youth.
The second panel discussion, an In-person Dev Dialogue session🔥, gathered tech luminaries like Temkin Mengistu (Chapi, (Senior Software Developer at Infonas)😎, Mukerem Ali (Competitive Programming Specialist)👨💻, Nebiyu Sultan (Blockchain Specialist), Bisrategebriel Fisseha (CEO of Kuraztech), Bemihiret Gezahegn (Co-founder of Gebeta Maps), Bezawork Tilahun (Organizer of GDG Addis), and regional ICPC finalist Mebatsihon Sahile👩💻. Facilitated by Yohannes Fikru (Jo) of Mukecha Games🎮, this session was nothing short of engaging and interactive.
Next, an invited guest, the deputy minister of Ethiopian ministry of innovation and technology Dr. Yeshurun Alemayehu, gave us insight on how to become successful.
CGI Club dazzled the audience with their year-long achievements, showcasing a breathtaking 3D arts video that exceeded all expectations.🤯🤩 It was authentic, exceptional and exciting, leaving everyone mesmerized by the experience🫡. Following suit, Ahamenes Space Science Club shared their notable accomplishments🪐, including the mobile apps and web projects developed throughout the year.🚀We then announced the Hackathon winners and presented their prize.🎁
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our generous sponsors for their unwavering support and trust.🙏 To our exceptional guests who graced us with their presence, we extend our deepest gratitude for being part of this memorable event.🤩 Special thanks to our university President, Dr. Derege, for his invaluable assistance in making this event a reality. And last but not least, a big thank you to all attendees, volunteers and hackathon participants for making the day truly extraordinary.⚡️
