Introducing Merbebt Solomon - GDSC AASTU 2023/24 Event Organizer

Merbebt Solomon has been an integral part of our event organizing team at GDSC AASTU . As an event organizer, she played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of each event by meticulously planning and making sure everything went according to plan. During the AASTU Tech Fest, Merbebet was instrumental in leading and instructing volunteers, ensuring that the event ran smoothly from start to finish. Her dedication to managing unexpected challenges and her warm welcome to partners and companies significantly contributed to the event’s overall success.

Merbebet has gained valuable experience in various professional roles as well. As a Frontend Developer Intern at Helder Technologies, she focused on graphic design, WordPress, and frontend development in a hybrid setting. She also participated in a month-long, on-site training program as a Summer Camp Trainee at Information Network Security Agency, and served as a Coding Instructor at Yenetta Code, where she mentored students in Scratch programming and coding during a summer internship.

Merbebet also has a strong background in volunteering. She served as a Youth Ambassador at Media Smart Youth Ethiopia, advocating for youth engagement and media literacy. Additionally, she contributed to social services and community development as a Volunteer at Rotaract Club of Finot.

Reflecting on her time as an event organizer, Merbebt shared:

I've learned that as youth, we have the potential to contribute and make a difference. We started with energy and a strong team spirit, connecting with diverse community projects and embracing our responsibilities with creativity. Through successes and mistakes, I've gained valuable insights into teamwork and the power of thinking outside the box. The support and inspiration from our amazing team have made this experience truly unforgettable, and I'm grateful to have been part of this amazing group."
