❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Battle for Avdeevka: Urban Fighting Begins
Situation as of the end of January 22, 2024
Following the repelled counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) on positions occupied by Russian troops on the southeastern outskirts of Avdeevka, units of the Russian Armed Forces have once again advanced along Sportivnaya, Sobornaya, and Chernyshevsky streets.
▪️ According to the footage published online, the Russian Armed Forces now maintain firm control over the entire southeastern outskirts of the city and have successfully cut off a small salient to the northwest of the Tsarskaya Okhota recreation center.
▪️ However, the forest located between the base and the Vinogradniki SNT remains a battleground, and it is still premature to declare full control over it.
▪️ As mentioned earlier, it is likely that the Russian Armed Forces aim to advance northwest towards the Khimik microdistrict. They are currently defending dacha plots and residential buildings in this area, continuously repelling attacks by Ukrainian formations.
▪️ Meanwhile, the struggle in the Opytny area and the fighting near the anti-aircraft unit, which had been blocked for a long time, has intensified. The issue of cutting off this ledge and reducing the front line has become even more urgent.
🔻At the current rate of advance, Russian troops will undoubtedly face enormous pressure from the constantly reinforced AFU.
In this regard, the battle for Avdiivka resembles the assault on Bakhmut, where our troops were repeatedly forced to repel attacks by superior enemy forces. It is too early to predict how long it will take to advance to Khimik and capture Avdeevka. However, the successes of the Russian Armed Forces, especially as confirmed by objective control personnel, are certainly encouraging.

This afternoon in the Belgorod region, the AFU anti-aircraft system shot down a Russian Il-76 aircraft. On board were 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war who were preparing for an exchange. Unfortunately, all people on board lost their lives.
In the Seversky direction, Russian troops successfully gained control of the forest reserve north of Belogorovka. There is also a slight advancement to the west of the village, but the Ukrainian formations are determined to hold their positions.
In the Donetsk direction, Ukrainian formations, with the support of UAV crews, are actively counterattacking in an attempt to regain previously lost strongholds in Avdiivka. Despite the enemy's numerical superiority, units of the Russian Armed Forces continue to repel attacks by the AFU and maintain their positions.
