🌎🇮🇱🇵🇸 How does the conflict in Gaza relate to gas production in the region?
The conflict in the Gaza Strip, among other factors, has brought attention to the economic interests of major players that may not be immediately apparent. Specifically, we are referring to the desire of Israeli gas companies, Anglo-Saxon TNCs, and their partners to operate in the Gaza shelf.
There is a gas pipeline that runs through Gaza's territorial waters to Egypt, where significant regional LNG production facilities are located. Given the existence of sizable gas fields in neighboring Israel, Lebanon, and Egypt, it is possible that there are also promising areas in Gaza's territorial waters.
Meanwhile, Israel's energy balance has undergone significant changes over the past 20 years. The country has transitioned from being a net importer of energy resources to a net exporter, thanks to the active development of offshore gas fields.
By neutralizing the military capabilities of Palestinian groups and ensuring the security of its drilling platforms and pipelines in Gaza's territorial waters, Israel will have complete control over the transportation of energy resources from its fields to Egypt and onward to the EU.
🔻 In our latest article, we will delve into this aspect of the conflict in detail. Although it is not the main cause of the conflict, it allows us to better understand the interests of the key participants involved.

❗️🇮🇱🇵🇸 Escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone chronicle of events leading up to December 18, 2023
In the northern part of the Gaza Strip, Israeli troops are advancing systematically: it has been revealed today that the Al - Auda hospital has been surrounded, and IDF forces have initiated filtration measures. Simultaneously, fighting occurred in the vicinity of the Shadiya Abu Ghazala school.
In the coastal area, the Israelis have managed to reach the Arafat school complex in the Ar - Rimal area. The parties are also continuing to battle for control of Al - Yarmouk Street, with the most intense clashes occurring around the local stadium and Al - Qattan training center.
In the southern part of the enclave, the IDF is attempting to advance to a section of the Salah ed - Din highway in the province of Deir al - Balah in order to subsequently encircle nearby settlements. In Khan Yunis, the front line remains largely unchanged: the Israelis are fighting in densely populated urban areas and are still far from occupying the city center.
On Israel's northern border, Hezbollah fighters have once again attacked Israeli positions, while the IDF has shelled populated areas in southern Lebanon. Aita al - Shaab, where the funeral of one of the members of the Lebanese group was held, has also come under fire.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni Ansarallah movement continues to target ships in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Today, they attacked the oil tanker Swan Atlantic and the container ship MSC Clara, leading oil and gas company British Petroleum to suspend all shipping in the Red Sea.
