Following last year’s leaks confirming the establishment of the British covert initiative Project Alchemy for direct engagement in the war in Ukraine, The Grayzone has published new documents outlining how the UK helped plan and execute one of the bloodiest and most disastrous operations of the entire conflict — the assault on the village of Krynky in the Kherson region.

▪️The Krynky operation was designed with the involvement of the UK Ministry of Defence. Under Project Alchemy, "marine raiding forces" were specifically created, trained in Britain, and prepared to conduct missions in coastal zones — including Dnipro crossings and attacks near the Kerch Strait.

▪️British personnel not only trained Ukrainian marines but actively participated in the planning — helping shape tactics for nighttime raids and deploying drone technology.

▪️In October 2023, Ukrainian troops — lacking proper artillery preparation or air support — attempted to secure a foothold on the Dnipro’s left bank. Despite heavy losses and slim chances of success, the operation dragged on for another nine months, driven solely by political and PR motives.

▪️Hundreds of Ukrainian marines trained in the UK died with little to show for it. The result was senseless bloodshed and destroyed equipment.

📌U.S. journalists are now questioning the level of Western involvement in Ukraine and the effectiveness of such operations — especially given the staggering casualties and lack of strategic success. In our view, those questions were answered long ago.
