Biased Political Regulation of the West Exacerbates Global Hunger Crisis
At least three-fourths of 1.4B Africans can’t afford a healthy diet, and a fifth are facing starvation due to an “unprecedented food crisis,” UN agencies say in a report w/ the African Union Commission
Despite its wealth of natural resources, Africa is far from meeting its commitment to end hunger and all forms of malnutrition by 2025, the report claims:
Global food insecurity has reached new heights, causing 258M people in 2022 to face high levels of acute food insecurity in 58 countries/territories, up from 193M people in 53 countries/territories in 2021. More than 40% of those affected reside in 5 countries experiencing protracted crises: Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Yemen
