Hello everyone! Thank you to all who attended Wild North 2025: Haunted Halls.
Seeing all the photos and memories shared in the chats and on social media has been fantastic. There had been worries that we would be in for a rainy weekend, but miraculously, we only had rain on one evening, and managed to avoid an entire storm! Lumley Castle also exceeded our expectations, with a fantastic setting and such wonderful and helpful staff who enjoyed every moment of it.
Now, onto the announcements:
As you may know, the team here is always open to feedback and suggestions to improve next year’s Wild North. Therefore, if you have any ideas, thoughts, or general comments (anonymous if you wish), we have a feedback form for you all to fill in. The form will be open until Friday 17th October. We would like to thank everyone who provided detailed feedback using our form. You were all drawn to Lumley Castle, saying the venue brought a lot of character to the event. We’re glad the castle provided plenty of space and atmosphere to make Wild North what it was.
After reviewing all your responses and discussing them as a team, we’ve compiled a list of changes we plan to implement to address them.
While some matters are beyond our control, here’s how we plan to use your feedback to make the experience better for everyone for Wild North 2026:
Accessibility
We will have walk-throughs of the venue for traders and for people with access requirements, to help you navigate.
We will include useful helplines and contact numbers in our conbook. We want everyone to enjoy the Wild North adventure, but it’s also essential that we look after ourselves and look after each other.
Newcomers
We were delighted to see many new faces among our adventurers this time and to see how much you enjoyed Wild North as your first convention. However, we understand that Wild North is a unique experience, and meeting new and experienced adventurers can be daunting. As such, we will run an icebreaker activity to help adventurers settle in and get to know each other.
Events
We will allocate more time for traders to set up the Trading Post, to help ensure it starts on time. We are thankful to all the traders who took part, and we look forward to you returning to offer your wares.
We know that some adventurers wanted to attend multiple events that clashed. The country walk to Finchale Priory was a good experience, but because we returned late, people missed the ferret racing. Others had a great time participating in the swordplay workshops, as did York School of Defence in running them, but they clashed with the Trading Post. We will review our event scheduling to determine the best way to arrange events, giving you more opportunities to take part.
We will create an event steward role to assist event runners with anything they need, ensuring their activities run smoothly. Many of our activities are adventurer-led. People suggest the activities they would like to run, and we will continue to support them as best we can.
Volunteers
We will do our best to get you involved, for example, by taking on volunteers on the day. Given the number of newcomers and the fact that we were at a new venue, we understand many of you just wanted to experience the convention this year. However, we are also happy that many of you wish to volunteer next year.
Rest assured, even if you volunteer your time, we want you to enjoy the convention. As such, we will manage our volunteers so they don’t have to stay any longer than necessary.
Lumley Castle
We will speak with Lumley Castle about offering more continental and healthy breakfast options, as well as more hot and cold drinks at breakfast.
For the lunch buffets, we will also request that the venue provide drinks.
We understand that there was some uncertainty about chill-out spaces. Returning adventurers will recall the Blue Room as a place to relax, socialise, and play games in a quiet space away from other activities. While we had the Scarborough Room as a chill-out space at certain time blocks, we see that you prefer a more permanent chill-out space, to hang out without interfering with other events. We will see if we can designate a permanent chill-out space for next year. Meanwhile, the Library Bar is available for all adventurers to relax in, and we will do our best to make it more welcoming (for example, by providing board games).
We’re glad to see our adventurers’ positive experiences with the staff of Lumley Castle, praising how they went out of their way to make people feel seen and cared for. As organisers, we were exceptionally impressed with how promptly they arranged the event rooms to meet our requirements.

Registration Process
Given the increase in interest, we want everyone’s registration to go as smoothly as possible. As such, our process has changed slightly for this year.
As a thank you to everyone who supported us in our first year at Lumley, registration will open for those who attended last year at 7 p.m. on Friday, 6 March 2026, for both residential and a limited number of non-residential tickets. At 7 p.m. on Sunday, 8 March 2026, Registration will pause to allocate rooms.
Registration will then open for newcomers at 7 p.m. on Friday, 13 March 2026, and pause at 7 p.m. on Sunday, 15 March 2026 to allocate rooms.
After these two periods, registration will open to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis on Monday, 6 April.
We have worked behind the scenes over the last few months to bring you a new online registration system that will suit our needs and be both easier to use for newcomers and familiar to furries who’ve attended UK furry conventions before.
Payment opens for everyone on Friday, 20 March and people will have 14 days (until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, 3 April) to make their payment.
Anyone who registers after 6 April must pay within 14 days of registration. Those with exceptional circumstances may request a deadline extension from the Wild North Team, but because we may have a waiting list of prospective attendees, the Wild North staff will decide whether to grant the extension.
Rooms and Prices
While we have made slight changes to our prices, we are committed to keeping our convention both affordable and in line with other UK furry conventions while aiming for the best Wild North experience.

Courtyard Classic Room: £335
Courtyard Superior Room: £386
Castle Classic Room: £386
Single Room: £515
These prices are per person. All rooms (except for the Single Rooms) are either Twin or Double. Breakfast is included in the price (see Meals section).
Due to increased demand and interest, we have slightly increased capacity to 120 attendees, which means more rooms are available to book. As with last year, the registration form will include options to select a preferred room and roommate.
There are two accessible bedrooms with walk-in showers. If you would like an accessible room, please contact us.
As a reminder, the event runs from Friday, 18 September to Monday, 21 September 2026. If you would like to arrive a day early (on Thursday, 17 September) or depart a day later ( on Tuesday, 22 September), the additional costs per person are:

We are also inviting people to apply for our meal package, which includes:
- A lunch buffet on Saturday and Sunday
- An outdoor BBQ on the Saturday
These will only take place if we have enough sign-ups. Last year, we needed at least 50 people for the meal package to happen.
When you register, you can state your interest in this option. To be clear, you will not need to pay when you register. We will only request payments when we reach the numbers. The price is £50.
