#BrainmassAI : ChatGPT has claimed it's first victim...

Chegg is an online education platform that has lost over 500,000 paid subscribers since the release of ChatGPT.

They used to have a market cap of $15.3 billion.. and now? 267 million 😅

Their new CEO also just cut Chegg’s workforce by 25%, expanded internationally, and shifted focus toward dedicated students by adding services like counseling.

I think this is another indirect way AI is going to take jobs away.

Saas companies are going to be laying people off simply because of lost revenue.

Who is ChatGPT going after next...?

This is a powerful example of how disruptive AI can be to traditional business models. Chegg’s story highlights the critical need for companies to adapt faster than their competitors and anticipate shifts in customer behavior. Here's a three-part framework that SaaS companies could adopt to navigate such challenges:

Understand Customer Needs: AI tools like ChatGPT thrive because they address pain points with accessibility, speed, and cost-effectiveness. Businesses should conduct regular user research to identify unmet needs and align offerings accordingly.

Innovate and Diversify: Relying solely on one revenue stream or product can be risky. Companies should consider adjacent markets, partnerships, or complementary services (as Chegg is attempting with counseling) to broaden their appeal.

Embrace AI: Rather than seeing AI as competition, SaaS companies can integrate it into their platforms to enhance their value propositions. This might involve collaborating with AI providers or developing in-house AI solutions.

The question isn’t just “Who is ChatGPT going after next?” but also, “Who will evolve alongside AI to create more resilient businesses?

From failing at CFA Level 1 to becoming the CEO of the CFA Institute 😳

The Inspiring Journey of Margaret Franklin, CFA , CEO of CFA Institute 🌟

I had the privilege of speaking with Marg Franklin, the first female CEO of the CFA Institute. Her journey is a powerful example of resilience and perseverance.

Marg didn’t pass the CFA Level 1 exam on her first attempt, but instead of being discouraged, she used the setback as fuel to push forward. Today, she leads the very organization that administers this prestigious qualification—a true testament to the power of reinvention.

In our conversation, we also explored key shifts shaping the future of finance:

🌍 ESG Investing: A Global Shift
Marg highlighted how ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investing is now a core principle, not just a trend. It’s about creating long-term global impact, driving both returns and responsibility in equal measure.
🤖 Technology in Finance: Enhancing Human Intelligence
We also discussed the growing role of AI and machine learning in finance. Marg emphasized that while tech is transforming the industry, it’s not here to replace humans—but to enhance our capabilities. Continuous learning and adaptation will be crucial for future success.

Key Takeaway:

Marg’s story shows that success in finance is about resilience, adaptability, and growth.

Whether overcoming personal challenges, embracing ESG, or adapting to new technologies, it’s about evolving with purpose.
Silver Slides Toward 2-Month Low : Silver prices dropped toward $30 per ounce on Thursday, nearing their lowest levels in two months as risk-on sentiment and a stronger dollar shifted investor interest away from precious metals.

Equities, cryptocurrencies, and the dollar have been rallying since Donald Trump’s election victory last week, as markets bet on strong growth and higher inflation under the incoming administration.

Meanwhile, the latest US inflation figures met expectations, having little impact on the outlook for Federal Reserve monetary policy.

In China, investors were underwhelmed by Beijing’s latest support measures to stabilize the economy, despite the finance ministry unveiling tax incentives for home and land transactions on Wednesday.

Silver, a key industrial component in solar panel production, has been hit by concerns over the lack of aggressive stimulus measures in China, which has dampened the outlook for the sector.

Will Bank Nifty hold the 50,000 level?

From 2019 to 2024, corporate earnings have grown at an approximate annual rate of 15%, with market returns similarly compounding at around 15% per year over this period. Focusing solely on returns from the past two years may provide a skewed perspective as market returns always to align with long-term corporate earnings growth.

In Q2 FY25, however, corporate earnings showed signs of slowing, and broader economic indicators suggest a potential slowdown ahead. Any further dip in earnings growth could weigh on future market returns. Experts anticipate heightened volatility, a period of time correction, and a low-return environment in the near future. Additionally, global capital is increasingly flowing toward safer assets in the U.S. and Japan.

Given these conditions, our investment approach should emphasize capital preservation and generating consistent alpha. To help navigate these challenges, we are offering three structured product options tailored for these market dynamics:
1. Nifty Twin-Win: Provides principal protection along with a guaranteed absolute growth of 22%. Investors also receive Nifty returns if the index exceeds the 22% threshold.
2. Nifty All Weather Equity: Offers principal protection with a 5% return for every 1% rise in the Nifty, up to a maximum absolute return of 50%.
3. Nifty Beta: Provides 150% exposure to Nifty returns, without capital protection, for those willing to take on higher risk for potentially greater rewards.

Please let us know if you’d like to schedule a time to discuss these options in detail. Thank you.

Oil Rises as International Tensions Out Weigh Larger-Than-Expected Rise in U.S. Inventories: Oil prices rose early on Wednesday, backed by geopolitical tension even as a report showed an outsized rise in U.S. inventories last week.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil for December delivery was last seen up US$0.49 to US$69.88 per barrel, while January Brent crude, the global benchmark, was up US$0.34 to US$73.65.

The rise comes after Russia said it is altering its policy for the use of nuclear weapons after the Biden Administration gave Ukraine permission to use missiles to hit targets in Russia. The policy treats an attack from a non-nuclear power that is backed by a nuclear-armed state as a joint attack, the BBC reported. The policy was first proposed by President Vladimir Putin in September and approved on Tuesday.

"The Russian leader dialed up global anxiety as he revised the nuclear weapon doctrine by lowering the threshold for their use. Mr Putin is said to be open to a ceasefire if initiated by Mr Trump without making territorial concession and that Ukraine is refused NATO membership," PVM Oil Associates noted.

Rising U.S. inventories are offering a check to prices. In its weekly report, the American Petroleum Institute on Tuesday said oil stocks rose by 4.75-million barrels last week, well more than the consensus estimate for a 0.8-million barrel increase, according to Oilprice.com. The Energy Information Administration will release official inventory data later on Wednesday morning.
