OPINION PIECE EXTRA: Climate ‘science’ is falling apart at the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai. The United Arab Emirates President Sultan Al-Jaber who is largely responsible for taking the conference to Dubai stated to an astonished audience that there is ‘no science’ to support the theory that a phase out of fossil fuels is necessary to ensure that global warming will not exceed 1•5 degrees of Celsius. Virtually the entire theory underpinning the theory of climate change depends on accepting the fallacy that the burning of fossil fuels contributes to global warming. Now one of the most senior members of the COP28 has in fact questioned the entire foundations of ‘climate science’ Furthermore Sultan Al-Jaber said that a ‘phase out of fossil fuels would not allow for sustainable development unless you want to take the world back into caves’ His comments are reported to ‘verge on climate denial’. Maybe the Sultan didn’t understand that the conference demands a particular orthodoxy, a particular twisted narrative that pushes a pseudoscience aggressively and with fanaticism. Perhaps Sultan Al-Jaber precisely because he is a Sultan feels able to rise above the mediocrity that fosters false science and states his beliefs without fear. But before the conference started it was presumed that at the conference end there would be a commitment to phase out fossil fuels. This now appears unlikely. This is a ‘science’ using cherry picked data, ignoring an inconvenient historical record, relying on published articles that will only publish results that line up with preconceived results. This is not a science, it is an anti science and Sultan Al-Jaber has highlighted that. It is time that this country re-examined our insane commitment to ‘climate science’, a commitment that has damaged our fuel and food security and endangers our sovereignty. Our Environment Minister Eamonn Ryan is flying home from Dubai on what appears to be a ‘day return’ to vote in the Dail on a confidence matter. So much for a carbon footprint but the ‘elite’ are always exempt. I would say to Minister Ryan, don’t bother going back, the show in Dubai is over. Thank you Sultan Al-Jaber.
