PRE-RECORDED DIALOGUES ๐ŸŽฆ
Due to differences in timezone, some of our directors were unable to join us for live dialogues on Zoom. We have pre-recorded dialogues with them instead, to offer you more insights into how they conceptualised their films.

If youโ€™ve enjoyed MY SOUL DRIFTS LIGHT UPON A SEA OF TREES, do join us for the live dialogue with Heinrich Dahms, the director, tomorrow 29 Sep at 7pm (SGT).

Born in South Africa in 1954, Heinrich studied psychology, philosophy and film and developed an interest in Oriental spirituality during his university years thatโ€™s still expressed today in the daily practice of Zen meditation and Tai Chi Chuan.

Heโ€™s interested in contemporary socio-political trends, especially when it comes to the psychological impact of social developments on the individual psyche: What makes an individual withdraw from society and what kind of existential despair drives a person to take his own life?

Heinrich believes that a well-developed human spirit can help people overcome a great deal of hardship and despair in finding personal meaning in life. All of this is represented in the inspiring character of the Buddhist priest, Ittetsu Nemoto, the subject of his film.
