On August 31, 1926, exactly 93 years ago, Marc Haven (Emmanuel Lalande) died. He was a member of the Supreme Council of Martinist Order, founded by Papus (he replaced Maurice Barres on his post in the Supreme Council), and also he was Papus' companion on occult research. Marc Haven was a member of the Independent Group of Esoteric Studies (G.I.E.E.E.), which was later renamed the Hermetic School, governed by the "Council of Excellence", which included Marc Haven. He was also a participant in the magnetic experiments of Philippe Nizier and a friend of Albert Poisson, an alchemist, a member of the Kabbalistic Order of the Rose + Cross. In 1900, Marc Haven collected thirty unpublished letters by Albert Poissont devoted to alchemical experiments, and published them in the journal "L'Initiation".

On September 2, 1907, exactly 112 years ago, Robert Ambelain (n.m. Sar Aurifer) was born - French Occultist, Great Hierophant of the Rite of Memphis-Misraim, Bishop of Église gnostique universelle, Martinist, author of books on occultism and mysticism, magic and astrology.
The young years of Robert Ambelain fell on the tragic event in the life of mankind - World War II. As a Mason of the Rite of Memphis-Misraim, Robert Ambelain risked his life with all possible and impossible efforts to save documents relating to the tradition of the Rite, and in general to continue the work of the Lodge, despite the persecution of the Vichy government. While in a clandestine position, he also transfered Martinist initiations. After being initiated into Martinism in 1939, he, already during the occupation, was admitted to the Order of the Elus Coens, where he obtained the degree of Reau Croix resurge.
After the war, in 1946 he was ordained Bishop of the Église gnostique universelle under the name of Tau Robert. As the founder of the Église gnostique apostolique, he became the Patriarch of the Église gnostique universelle in 1969 under the name of Tau Jean III, and a few years later became the Grand International Master of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm.
Robert Ambelain left behind more than 42 works on occultism, mysticism, initiatory tradition of the West, as well as interesting historical moments. Some of them have already been translated into Russian, in particular "Dramas and Secrets of History", "Jesus or the Deadly Secret of the Templar".

On September 6, 1583, exactly 436 years ago, Dr. John Dee, who was exploring the methods of Enochian magic with his medium, Edward Kelly, completed the cataloging of his vast library before leaving England for Germany. The catalog includes more than 4000 volumes. At one time, John Dee turned to Queen Elizabeth I for help in compiling this library, but she refused, and the learned mage independently began to collect one of the most impressive personal libraries of the time. Unfortunately, the library was partially destroyed during the departure of John Dee by an angry mob, which he had already learned about on September 23, 1583 from a letter from his friend.

The second part of this global update is the long-awaited for many website users English version.
