Rumors abound. But all indications point to the General Assembly calling a special session by a 2/3s majority to begin October 27th.
Some say the Senate still doesn't have the votes. Others have confirmed that the votes are there. I have heard from a few House Representatives that the House is fully prepared to stall any vote on the Ford special session until the call for an additional session is made by the Senate. Which in light of the current uncertainty, is really good news.
For now, I am going to remain optimistic that this special session is indeed going to happen and we are prepared to make our requests known to the General Assembly.
There are a lot of issues that need to be addressed ranging from mandates to education to elections, immigration and the list goes on. But we have to be realistic. This is a special session, meaning, it will be brief and time simply will not allow for every issue to be addressed right now. So, we have compiled what we consider to be the most pressing issues coming into October 27th, and issues that simply cannot wait until January 2022.
1. Vaccine mandates by employers must come to an end. Places of public accommodation must not require a status of vaccination for entry or to receive goods and services.
2. Remove extraordinary and broad powers given to county health officers.
3. No mask mandates in our public schools.
4. No Patient Left Alone.
5. Right to access life-saving medication and treatment.
6. It is time to end the emergency. Amend or repeal TCA ยง 58-2-107 now.
7. Right to petition for recall election of school board members.
It would be great to also see the General Assembly address the immigration crisis and election integrity issues. I do think that the general session beginning in January 2022 will still give us ample opportunity to address these important and complex issues.

What should we be striving for in the special session hopefully beginning on October 27th?

I've seen threads online discussing answers to your question, since so many are asking.
Let's help a channel follower with her question, and as a result hopefully help many others who are wondering the same thing.

Assault committed by a school board member?? ๐ ๐ ๐
In Part 2 of Tyranny in Tennessee we look at the Rutherford County School Board. They are responsible for the education of nearly 50,000 students, but as you will see the intimidation, allegations of assault, and absolutely no transparency makes the Rutherford County School Board a prime example of the Tyranny in Tennessee.
