Pearson has released the second edition of the classic book by Upinder Singh madam. I was extremely excited and curious... thus just went through it page by page.... There are some new additions: some boxes, some photos and very few new sections in some chapters. Total change is not more than 5-7%.
The book definitely pushes the boundary of our present understanding of Ancient and Early Medieval history. However, how much of that is going to be relevant for our exam requirement is open to question.
There will be some Youtube Videos by some teachers soon where they will compare the new edition with the old and inform us what is important for the exam. You can watch one or two of them to get the basic idea.
However, my conclusion is that those of you who have time and are preparing for 2025 can use this book as the basic source. But for those who are preparing for 2024, please continue with the earlier edition and it is totally fine. It would not make much difference.
