When evaluating alignment efficiency and space closure time, which of the following is the most efficient?
Anonymous Poll

Passive Self-ligating brackets

Active Self-ligating brackets

Conventional brackets
A randomized clinical trial compared Self-ligating (active, passive) and conventional brackets in terms of alignment efficiency and space closure. It was concluded that;

1- Time to initial alignment was significantly shorter for the conventional brackets than for either the active or passive self-ligating brackets.
2- There was no statistically significant difference in passive, active, or total space-closure times among the 3 brackets under investigation.
We’ve just selected two nice cases that James Vaden will be presenting during our meeting on 24 June. There will also be one case from Danny and one from me. His panoramic X-ray at the age of 8. Question: could PDC have been prevented? If yes, with what procedure and what’s the success rate percentage-wise?
One who gives a correct answer gets a free seat at out meeting on June 24th! 🌵
Here is a paper that answers the question.
The authors report that successful eruption of permanent canines occurred in 32 out of 40 (80%) of the patients in the RME group, which was no different to those who had  just received a TPA and extraction of the primary canine (19 out of 24 individuals, 79%).
Successful eruption also occurred in 15 out of 24 (63%) of those who had extraction of the primary canine only, compared with 8 out of 29 (28%) in the untreated control group.
Jimmy has the best answer and is allowed to attend our second meeting free of charge.

Dear colleagues!

It’s time to introduce you to our online guest, Dr. Vishnu Raj!

In my humble opinion, Dr. Raj is one of the best U.S. clinicians. He runs a private practice and teaches at the University of Texas.

I’m glad to have known Vishnu for over 5 years during which I have learned from him a lot. He keeps generously sharing his expertise through his lectures and via his Facebook group which is a daily flow of perfectly documented cases. Not only is he a great clinician, but he is also a rare example of ethics and camaraderie. He was one of the few who put their names forward on the class action suit against the SDC. He constantly challenges the false claims of charlatans with two of his powerful weapons - the perfect knowledge of orthodontic science and an unmatched sense of humour.
On the 12th of August Dr. Raj will present a lecture on long-term stability.

We consider broadcasting the lecture online... but we promise that it will be much more fun if you come in person. Registration: wearemosg.ru
