All the safety measures we performed are our efforts to ensure that life can continue, even with the advent of changes and adjustments.

May Allah bring us out of these challenges as fast as possible, and grant us and this country continuous safety. Amin.

The ongoing pandemic has brought about new developments that require us to make necessary adjustments to our lives, including our religious activities. While we have encountered several challenges, we are thankful that the Muslim community has responded positively to the advisories related to the various precautionary measures.

Alhamdulillah, with the community's collective efforts, our mosques have been able to gradually welcome more congregants who are vaccinated, and offer more spaces for our Friday prayers.

Presently, the new variant continues to bring potential challenges to the local community, much like the rest of the world. Additional preventive measures such as the vaccination-differentiated safe management measures (VDS) for public places have been expanded to all places of worship to further safeguard the community.

In navigating the current situation, the Office of the Mufti has issued an irsyad to guide the community in fulfilling our religious obligation amidst these circumstances.

We call upon all Muslimin to take the necessary steps to perform their Friday prayers, by making themselves eligible through vaccination, and registering for a slot for each week’s Friday prayers. The rukhsah (concession) to not perform these prayers only applies to two groups of individuals who are not able to meet the necessary requirements.

It is everyone’s responsibility to protect ourselves and our loved ones from infection and any potential harm. We will continue to closely monitor further developments so that we may issue any necessary guidance in the future.

May our contributions in overcoming the pandemic be rewarded, and may Allah always grant us the way out of our hardships and challenges.
