At the joint press conference with US President Joe Biden, I explained that Singapore condemned the unprovoked attack by Russia on Ukraine because it violates international law and the UN Charter.

The sovereignty of all countries, big and small, must be respected.

My thanks to President Joe Biden for the warm welcome to the White House. The U.S. and Singapore have substantial areas of bilateral cooperation, and I am confident that our relationship will continue to grow stronger. 🇸🇬🇺🇸

Had a lively dialogue at the Council on Foreign Relations. We discussed the impact of the invasion on Ukraine, geopolitical issues, global security arrangements, and the climate crisis, among other topics.

Even in the midst of a pandemic, the Ukraine war and geopolitical tensions, the climate crisis remains the existential challenge of our times. Beyond mitigation measures, we must work on adaption, and search for new solutions to address this urgent challenge.
