The truth is, if you want to maximize your earning potential and take on greater job roles or responsibilities, you’ll need to specialize, or do what people call "niche down".
With more data moving into the cloud storage and millions of devices connecting to the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity teams will grow and roles will become focused.
Having said that, I'm going to tell you about the most in-demand Cyber Security niches and skills, so you can plan your career path better.
1. Penetration Tester aka Ethical Hacker
● Average salary (USD): $120,000 – 130,000
Penetration testers serve as one of the last lines of defense for companies.
Unlike an application security engineer who looks for vulnerabilities during the product’s development, penetration testers are constantly testing live systems.
They use pre-made tools and their own creations to try and hack existing systems, document the vulnerability, and then provide detailed reports to business leaders.
Penetration testers can also work in conjunction with security risk managers to determine how compliant the company is with the company’s existing standards and protocols.
How do you become a marketable Penetration Tester?
● Gain experience conducting wireless network tests, network service tests, social engineering tests, etc.
● Familiarize yourself with popular automatic scanning tools such as Kali Linux, Core Impact, Metasploit, Wireshark, etc.

Good News!
Before I share it, I would love to announce that we just completed the first official meeting with our TeamLead Interns, for the ongoing Cohort 11 of our Project Management Bootcamp.
It held last night, lasted for 1 hour and was deeply informative. I enjoyed my time brainstorming and sharing and receiving solutions and recommendations.
To be clear, there are 10 of them leading about 1,980 participants of this cohort. Further headed by a PM in charge in 2 program coordinators. All doing amazing jobs.
So the good news .
One of our TeamLead interns, (for team 3), who is a banker by profession and also a participant in the bootcamp which is just almost 2 weeks in, Just got a Project Management job on upwork, just from the knowledge she gathered within this short time frame.
She shared it with us and I'm super excited for her.
Just incase you are thinking about giving up now, perish that idea. 😉
