I get asked about what books I recommend pretty often.

It's not an easy answer for me to give right now, as I'm searching for what's true and doing my best to sift through old and new works to distill the best of the information from my vantage point.

There are also an infinite number of ways one could go about practicing and studying astrology.

My default answer has been, "find a school that resonates with you most, follow that thread," because who am I to tell you how to study or what to study?

But with that said, I'd like to take a bit of time to post about a few of the ones that got me started, along with my reviews. Stick around.

My first #BookReview, for "The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need" by Joanna Martine Woolfolk.

This is actually a pretty great book for introducing a lot of the concepts for modern astrology in a very easy to read and understand form. It covers a good deal of the basics without getting lost "in the weeds" or going too deeply into specifics.

Joanna's writing style is simple, and with only this in hand one could learn a great deal about their own or others' charts.

I personally enjoyed the sun sign romance section, as a guilty pleasure, which highlights how the different signs love, what turns them on, and how to appeal to their better natures. Of course, anything that focuses exclusively on the sun signs is going to be lacking in detail and not at all resonant for everyone that shares that specific sun sign, but it was still highly enjoyable to read for fun.

However, use extreme caution with things that specifically aim to tap into your sexual energy, proceed with extra care.

I also thoroughly enjoyed that the ideas of decanates and lunar mansions are introduced and briefly explored. This is information that isn't touched on further in the book, but does give a brief overview that can be used for further exploration.

My biggest dislikes are that there is a heavy emphasis on sun signs, which, when it comes to astrology, is only barely scratching the surface.

But, In the author's defense, pop culture only pays attention to sun signs anyway. She does then go on to detail how each planet might act in a sign and how the house system works, so these are major "pros" for me. I do appreciate that she elaborates a few times that the entire chart and all of the energies have to be read together, so hopefully beginners read the entire book before making quick judgments...

(Book review pt 3) My only other major complaint was the obvious "New Age" leanings of the author, and for someone that tends to be more conspiracy-aware, that might be annoying.

She does go over a brief history of astrology as well, along with a description of the precession of the equinox, the "Ages of Man", explaining the difference between Sidereal and Tropical systems, and has a lot of old astrological artwork that is truly fascinating to look at.

The book was written in 1982, and so some of the writings about the outer planets feel outdated to me (and sugar coated, especially the descriptions of Pluto...) so take those descriptions with a grain of salt.

And so, I would advise to take what resonates and use this book as a nice launch pad, throw out what doesn't work, and continue your explorations.

All in all, decent guide to get anyone started, and she includes her own list of recommended reading that I'll probably look through at some point, as well as some pretty sweet tables to help folks that wish to manually build out their charts.

This was my first very public Astrological forecast video for the year 2022, hosted by the generous Chance from Innerverse.

https://youtu.be/_fC1QV71YSE

Honestly it is nerve wracking to talk about these kinds of things for a large audience, especially since this was my first time trying to forecast for the entire year, looking at both psychological and external events. I covered most of the bases though in the short 2 hours (πŸ˜‚) that we had.

It has been fascinating to watch some of these things play out and I truly hope for the best this year!

But here it is, on record, aired January 12th, 2022.

And here is the last video I did with Chance, Gabriel, Juan and Mario, talking about the infamous H. P. Lovecraft. This is just the first hour, for the second half you need a Rokfin account. In the first half we're barely getting started, second half I break down his chart way further!
