Konka Monument

This is an exact copy of the horse-drawn tram of the late XIX century, recreated according to drawings.
This was the first version of public transport in St. Petersburg, which had one or two floors. The two-storey horse-drawn carriages were open, a spiral staircase led up, they cost less. The horse-drawn carriages rode on special rails, they were driven by one or two horses.

The car was serviced by two people - a carriage driver who drove horses, and a conductor, and 22-24 passengers were placed there. Only strong men were engaged in this work, because it was very difficult to control the car, especially when climbing and descending.

Quirinal Palace

The Palazzo del Quirinale is a stunning palace located on one of Rome's seven hills overlooking the city below.

Summer Garden

When Peter the Great began the arrangement of his summer residence here, there was practically no solid ground on the site of the garden. The land had to be drained with the help of numerous canals and ponds and a huge amount of bulk soil had to be brought in.
Peter loved the symmetry and proportionality of the composition, so the location of all buildings, paths, canals and fountains strictly corresponded to the plans, and each tree stood in its place. There were large and small palaces, greenhouses, poultry houses and vegetable gardens.

Sistine Chapel

The Sistine Chapel, located in the Vatican, is one of the most famous and impressive sights of Rome. The chapel is named after Pope Sixtus IV, who commissioned its construction at the end of the XV century.

The most notable feature of the chapel is the stunning ceiling fresco painted by Michelangelo, which depicts various scenes from the Book of Genesis. To create the famous painting known as the Ceiling of the Sistine Chapel,
Michelangelo took four years, and it is considered one of the greatest works of art in history.

Neskuchny Garden

In fact, the garden got its name from the Neskuchnoye estate of Prince Trubetskoy. When the princely and neighboring lands were bought by the palace department of Nicholas 1, the whole territory began to be called by the name of the estate.

The creator of the garden itself is considered to be Prokopy Demidov, a major industrialist who owned this territory even before the Orlovs. It was he who began planting exotic plants here, gave his possessions the shape of an amphitheater (over which, by the way, seven hundred workers worked for two years).

Vorontsov Palace

The palace building, originally owned by the Russian diplomat, statesman and Chancellor of the Russian Empire, Count Mikhail Vorontsov, is distinguished by rich interior decoration and facades, beautiful stucco and magnificent gilded carvings. From Sadovaya Street
Vorontsov Palace is separated by a massive cast-iron fence.

It is interesting that Count Vorontsov, although he was a very wealthy man, still had to refuse to participate in the construction, since the building with dozens of state halls and chic interiors turned out to be too expensive an enterprise.

The area of the Bridge of the Holy Angel

The Piazza di Sant'Angelo is a beautiful square located in the heart of Rome, just a few steps from the famous Bridge of Sant'Angelo. The square is home to a number of historic buildings, including the majestic Castel Sant'Angelo, which was once a fortress and later became the papal residence.

The square is also surrounded by elegant Baroque buildings and has a stunning fountain designed by the famous sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
