IDF: A drug smuggling attempt worth approximately 600,000 shekels was thwarted by IDF soldiers
Earlier today, IDF soldiers spotted a number of suspects attempting to smuggle drugs from Egypt into Israeli territory.
The soldiers deployed to the scene thwarted the drug smuggling attempt, causing the suspects to flee.
33 kilograms of drugs were confiscated and transferred to the Israel Police for further processing.

IDF: The IDF conducted counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria overnight.
Following a situational assessment after terrorist activities were identified with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, it was decided to block off areas and routes adjacent to the Gaza Strip security fence.
All areas heading west of route 232 will be blocked off in both directions, as well as the following routes:
Route 4 - from Zikim Junction to the route accessing the Erez Crossing.
Route 34 - from Yad Mordechai Junction to the Nir Am Crossing.
Route 232 - from Nir Am to Kerem Shalom.
In addition, it has been decided to close the Zikim Beach to visitors, cancel train services between Ashkelon and Sderot and to close the Erez Crossing to workers.
The area has been closed to civilians due to a direct threat and in order to prevent a possible attack on civilians.

In parallel, the forces operated in the towns of Harmala, Rahma, and Hujayla and apprehended two terrorist suspects.
Furthermore, IDF soldiers apprehended an individual suspected of terrorist activities in the Tulkarm Camp. During the soldiers' activity, dozens of Palestinian rioters hurled rocks and explosive devices at the soldiers.
In addition, during IDF counterterrorism activity in the Al Am'ari Camp, two terrorist suspects were apprhended. During the activity, Molotov cocktails were hurled at the soldiers who responded with riot dispersal means.
The soldiers also operated in the Far'a Camp and apprehended two individuals suspected of terrorist activities. During the activity, a violent riot was instigated during which rocks and explosive devices were hurled at the soldiers. The rioters also shot at the soldiers, who responded with riot dispersal means and live fire. Hits were identified.
A total of twelve individuals were apprehended overnight and were transferred to security forces for further questioning. In the last few days, the IDF and Israeli security forces have apprehended and investigated over 50 individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activity.
No IDF injuries were reported.

IDF: Two weeks after the sinkhole disaster in Keremi Yosef, during which the late Khalil Kimchi was killed, his family arrived for a visit to the Oketz Unit and met with the IDF soldier and her dog who located Mr. Kimchi's body
Today (Tuesday), the Kimchi family, who’s son, the late Khalil Kimchi, was killed in the sinkhole disaster in Keremi Yosef, visited the Oketz Unit in the Mitkan Adam military base.
During the visit, the family met with the Commanding Officer of the Oketz Unit, LTC Y, and the soldier, SGT G, and her trained dog, Inga, who were called at the beginning of the incident and searched for and found the body of the late Khalil Kimchi.
Together with the Kimchi family, it was decided that one of the new rescue dogs in the unit will be named after the late Khalil Kimchi.
The Kimchi family expressed their appreciation for SGT G, for her dog Inga and for the entire unit for their operations and professionalism throughout the incident.

During the counterterrorism activities, illegal weapons were confiscated, including a “Carlo” gun and a handgun.
A total of 12 individuals were apprehended overnight.
