The Love of Allāh, Glorifying Allāh & Putting Allāh First in Everything (True Tawhīd)
Chapter On How Humanists Resemble Idol Worshippers...

Allah the Most High said:

“And they assign to Allah a share of what He has produced of crops and livestock, and they say, ‘This is for Allah’—so they claim—‘and this is for our partners (idols).’ But what is for their partners never reaches Allah, while what is for Allah goes to their partners. Evil is what they decide.” [Surah Al-An’am, 6:136]

This verse shows that the idol worshippers honored their idols more than they honored the Lord of the Worlds, even though they acknowledged that He is greater than them.

Al-Ṭabarī said in his Tafsir:

13902 – Muhammad ibn ‘Amr narrated to us, he said: Abū ‘Āṣim narrated to us, he said: ‘Īsā narrated to us, from Ibn Abī Najīḥ, from Mujāhid concerning Allah’s words: “And they assign to Allah a share...” — he said: They would designate a portion of their crops for Allah and another portion for their idols and partners. If wind carried away what was designated for Allah and it ended up with the idols’ portion, they would leave it. But if anything from the idols’ portion ended up with Allah’s portion, they would return it, saying: ‘Allah is rich and does not need this!’ As for the livestock, they were the sā'ibah and baḥīrah which they named.”

Reflect on their statement: “Allah is rich and does not need this.”
They recognized Allah’s richness but failed to recognize their utter need for Him and their obligation to worship Him alone.

This is similar to the attitude of the heretics and humanist advocates of our time.

When they speak about acts of worship—like faith in the unseen, prayer, and remembrance of Allah—which are the sole rights of Allah Almighty, they belittle them and say: “What’s the benefit of these?”

And those who are more "reasonable" among them still reduce these acts to human benefit. For example, they might say: “Prayer teaches time management,” or “It’s a form of exercise,” or “It promotes social harmony.”
They interpret the verse:

“Indeed, prayer prevents immorality and wrongdoing”

as only referring to the violation of human rights.

But there is no doubt that proper prayer restrains from harming others—and also from all evil, even that which people don’t consider harmful, such as consensual fornication, which is still an abomination, or forbidden gazes and so on.

And when they see a disbeliever giving charity or doing humanitarian work or defending the oppressed, they say: “How can this person not enter Paradise?”—
completely ignoring the right of Allah to be worshipped alone and sincerely.

Thus, what is for Allah, they diminish unless it includes something for themselves.
And what is for themselves, they exalt, even if it is not done for Allah.
They even wish Paradise for such a person.

This is exactly like the idol worshippers condemned in the verse.

العاطفة إذا لم تقيّد بالعلم صارت عاصفة، ليست عاصفة لغيرك بل عاصفة تعصف بدينك واتّباعك

Emotion, if not restrained by knowledge, becomes a storm — not a storm against others, but a storm that shakes your own faith and obedience.
