قال بعض السلف:

لو يعلمُ الملوكُ وأبناءُ الملوكِ ما نحنُ فيه لجالدُونا عليه بالسيوفِ.

تفسير ابن رجب الحنبلي ٢/١٣٤

Some of the Salaf said:

If the kings and their sons new what we are in, they would have fought us for it with their swords.

لي فترة أنظر ووجدت أن كتاب المسند للإمام أحمد من أعظم الكتب الحديثية وهو كما قال عنه مؤلفه رحمه الله ورضي عنه هذا الكتاب إمام وأصل وأحيانا أقول لو صنفه الإمام ورتبه على طريقة السنن لما كان له نظير ولا ولكان وحده يغني عن أكثر الكتب الستة ثم أقول إن في تصنيفه مسندا أيضا فوائد جمة يعرفها المحدثون

وقبل أن يسخر أحد ويقول إيش هذا الاكتشاف العظيم الذي لم تسبق إليه فأمتثل له قول علي ابن الجهم

أَعَدنَ لِيَ الشَوقَ القَديمَ وَلَم أَكُن
سَلَوتُ وَلكِن زِدنَ جَمراً عَلى جَمرِ

فاحرصوا إخواني على قراءة هذا الإمام العظيم ونرجوا أن يوفى حقه تحقيقا وشرحا وطباعة

I have spent some time observing, and I found that Al-Musnad by Imām Ahmad is one of the greatest hadith collections. As its author — may Allāh have mercy on him and be pleased with him — said, this book is an imām (leader) and a foundation. Sometimes I even think that had the Imām compiled and organized it according to the method of the Sunan (thematic arrangement), there would have been no equal to it, and it alone would have sufficed over most of the six major books. Then again, I say that compiling it in a Musnad (chain-based) format also carries immense benefits known to the scholars of hadīth.

And before anyone mocks and says, "What is this great discovery that no one has realized before?", I respond with the words of 'Alī Bin al-Jahm:

"You have rekindled an old longing within me,
I had not forgotten, but you added flame upon flame."

So, I urge you, my brothers, to be keen on reading from this great Imam, and we hope that it will be given its due in terms of tahqīq, commentary, and publication.
