Here is a summary of the eight main points discussed in the video and the response to them:

1. Claim: You don’t become part of a deviant sect just by agreeing with one of their views.
Response: This goes against the clear way of the Salaf. They explicitly said that agreeing with a single foundational bidʿah is enough to be from that group. Numerous quotes from early imams prove this.
See the following books: عقيدة حرب الكرماني، شرح السنة للبربهاري، اجتماع الجيوش الاسلامية، الصواعق المرسلة، درء تعارض العقل والنقل، بيان تلبيس الجهمية، الشريعة للآجري، الابانة الصغرى، الابانة عن شريعة الفرقة الناجية

2. Claim: We shouldn't focus on refuting other Muslims. It gives enemies of Islam a reason to attack.
Response: This is a common emotional appeal. Islam is built on truth, not personalities. If someone harms the dīn by promoting bidʿah, refuting them protects Islam—not weakens it.

3. Claim: Imām al-Nawawī and Ibn Ḥajar made ijtihād and should be excused.
Response: There is clear double standard (generally amongst this group - not specifically from this brother). People excuse them while attacking Salafīs who expose the reality of their creeds. Being a scholar doesn’t exempt one from criticism when opposing the creed of the Salaf.

4. Claim: Why do we not excuse them with Ta'wil?
Response: If he misunderstood sincerely and didn’t know the Sunnah, he may be excused. But if he rejects it because he thinks affirming it would be tashbīh, he falls into the same usūl as the Jahmiyyah.

5. Claim: Salafīs claim everyone who disagrees is a kāfir or innovator.
Response: False. The response clearly differentiated between being from a deviant group and taking the ruling of kufr. These are two different rulings that depend on details.

6. Claim: Saying that someone is from the Jahmiyyah because of one opinion is excessive.
Response: This is precisely the stance of the Salaf. They said, “Whoever says such-and-such is a Jahmī,” even if it’s just one principle. This isn’t extremism; it’s preserving the boundaries of the Sunnah.

7. Claim: Some Sahabah and Prophets made similar errors.
Response: This is a major slander used by some (and not specifically this brother) to defend their own Jahmī scholars. Accusing prophets of shirk to excuse one’s own shuyūkh is dangerous and shows hostility to the dīn.

8. Claim: We shouldn’t attack respected scholars of the ummah like an-Nawawī.
Response: We judge by the creed. Anyone who promotes the usūl of the Jahmiyyah, knowingly or unknowingly, is judged accordingly.

This is a basic summary of what I said. However, I heavily advise anyone who is confused about watching the entire episode.

One of the most important books we have ever read.

After Aqidah and Fiqh - many people forget to keep their own selves in check.

This is one of the biggest castastrophies that a student of knowledge can fall into.

So do not fall into that and make sure not to neglect the sides of Zuhd and Tazkiyyah.
