Start Teaching Your Children
Even Before They Arrive

Dear sisters, if Allāh has blessed you with time and freedom before marriage, then value it as a priceless opportunity. Use it sincerely for His sake—and in preparation for the family you may one day nurture.

Don’t wait until marriage to begin your journey in seeking knowledge, memorizing the Qur'ān, or learning the principles of raising righteous children. Begin now.

As a mother, you will be your child’s first school. How beautiful would it be if your children grew up upon knowledge and guidance, because you had already spent years preparing—learning how to raise them upon the Qur'ān and Sunnah, upon sound and correct 'aqīdah?

Don’t spend these precious years chasing worldly ambitions. Strive to become a student of knowledge. Dedicate yourself to memorizing the Qur'ān. Study tarbiyah and prepare for homeschooling. Strengthen your foundation in 'aqīdah.

So when you do become a wife and mother, you’re not starting from scratch, you’re already grounded in knowledge.

And remember: raising righteous children isn’t just about food and clothing. It’s about nourishing their hearts with īmān.

And for the brothers, when searching for a wife, choose a sister knowing that in shā Allāh, she will one day be the mother of your children. She is the one who will teach them while you are at work. Keep that in mind when searching for a spouse, and don't just look for beauty.

اِبْدَئِي بِتَعْلِيمِ أَطْفَالِكِ
حَتَّى قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتُوا إِلَى الدُّنْيَا

أَيَّتُهَا الأَخَوَاتُ الْكَرِيمَاتُ، إِنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ قَدْ مَنَّ عَلَيْكُنَّ بِالْوَقْتِ وَالْفَرَاغِ قَبْلَ الزَّوَاجِ، فَاعْتَبِرْنَ ذَلِكَ فُرْصَةً لَا تُقَدَّرُ بِثَمَنٍ. اسْتَثْمِرْنَ هَذَا الْوَقْتَ بِإِخْلَاصٍ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى، وَاسْتِعْدَادًا لِلْأُسْرَةِ الَّتِي قَدْ تَرْعَيْنَهَا يَوْمًا مَا.

لَا تَنْتَظِرْنَ الزَّوَاجَ لِتَبْدَأْنَ رِحْلَةَ طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ، أَوْ حِفْظِ الْقُرْآنِ، أَوْ تَعَلُّمَ مَبَادِئِ تَرْبِيَةِ الأَبْنَاءِ الصَّالِحِينَ. ابْدَأْنَ الْآنَ.

فَالْأُمُّ هِيَ الْمَدْرَسَةُ الأُولَى لِطِفْلِهَا، فَكَمْ هُوَ جَمِيلٌ أَنْ يَنْشَأَ أَوْلَادُكِ عَلَى الْعِلْمِ وَالْهُدَى، لِأَنَّكِ قَدْ قَضَيْتِ سَنَوَاتٍ فِي الإِعْدَادِ لِذَلِكَ—تَعْلَمِينَ كَيْفَ تُرَبِّينَهُمْ عَلَى الْقُرْآنِ وَالسُّنَّةِ، وَعَلَى الْعَقِيدَةِ الصَّحِيحَةِ السَّلِيمَةِ؟

لَا تُضَيِّعْنَ هَذِهِ السَّنَوَاتِ الثَّمِينَةَ فِي اللهْثِ وَرَاءَ الطُّمُوحَاتِ الدُّنْيَوِيَّةِ. اجْتَهِدْنَ فِي أَنْ تَكُنَّ طَالِبَاتِ عِلْمٍ، وَاحْرِصْنَ عَلَى حِفْظِ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ، وَادْرُسْنَ التَّرْبِيَةَ، وَاسْتَعِدَدْنَ لِلتَّعْلِيمِ الْمَنْزِلِيِّ، وَقَوِّينَ أُسُسَكُنَّ فِي الْعَقِيدَةِ.

فَإِذَا صِرْتِ زَوْجَةً وَأُمًّا، فَلَسْتِ تَبْدَئِينَ مِنَ الصِّفْرِ، بَلْ أَنْتِ رَاسِخَةٌ فِي الْعِلْمِ.

وَتَذَكَّرِي: تَرْبِيَةُ الأَوْلَادِ الصَّالِحِينَ لَيْسَتْ فَقَطْ فِي الطَّعَامِ وَاللِّبَاسِ، بَلْ هِيَ فِي تَغْذِيَةِ قُلُوبِهِمْ بِالإِيمَانِ.

وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَةُ، فَعِنْدَ الْبَحْثِ عَنِ الزَّوْجَةِ، اخْتَارُوا أُخْتًا تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا، بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ، سَتَكُونُ يَوْمًا مَا أُمًّا لِأَبْنَائِكُمْ. فَهِيَ الَّتِي سَتُعَلِّمُهُمْ حِينَ تَكُونُونَ فِي أَعْمَالِكُمْ. فَتَذَكَّرُوا هَذَا عِنْدَ اخْتِيَارِ الزَّوْجَةِ، وَلَا تَنْظُرُوا إِلَى الْجَمَالِ فَقَطْ.
