And we see that “the reward of sin is death, but eternal life is the gift of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

It is abundantly clear that we all have sinned, and (except the Christians living on earth when Jesus returns), all humans will die, as it is written, that
“it is appointed unto men that they shall once die and then comes the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27)

Here we see that life does not end with the death of the body and that eternity is awaiting all of us in another world – either it be heaven or hell.

This is a spring day at the Atlantic coast.
It is really fascinating to be at the coast and see the waves coming in and see all the small animals that God has created in such a way that they can survive for hours out of the water.

God has informed us of what the criteria is at the judgment when writing;
“And I saw a great white throne and Him that sat on it from whose face fled away both the earth and heaven and their place was no more found.
And I saw the dead, both great and small standing before God.
And the books were opened and another book was opened, which is the book of life.
And the dead were judged of those things which were written in the books according to their deeds.
And the sea gave up her dead, which were in her and death and hell delivered up the dead, which were in them.
And they were judged, every man according to his deeds.
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:11-15)

We see that there will be different judgments depending on how people have lived their lives – but what really matters is to avoid being cast into the lake of fire.
Therefore, having our names written in the book of life, is the thing that really matters.

Jesus is nice and He has provided us with more information about this other places in the Bible.
The most famous Bible verse is John 3:16 showing that God, does not want us to go to hell, when Jesus is saying;
“God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that none that believes in Him should perish, but should have everlasting life.
For God sent not His Son into the world, to condemn the world, but that the world through Him, might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)

But it doesn’t stop there but Jesus continues;
“He that believes on Him shall not be condemned.
But he that believes not, is condemned already, because he believes not in the name of the only Son of God.” (John 3:18)

Further Jesus is telling us;
“Verily, verily, I say unto you;
He that hears My words,
and believes on Him that sent Me, has everlasting life and shall not come into damnation, but is escaped from death unto life.” (John 5:24)

Really nice how the cliff is mirrored in the sand!
If you zoom in, you will see how the layers in the cliff are not horizontal, but to the side, showing that the rock has not been built up over millions of years, but been placed there very quickly, maybe during the flood of our common great, great, great grand-father, Noah.

Here we clearly see that the key on the judgment day is to believe in Jesus, and that anyone that believes in Him is not condemned.
And we also see that “he that believes not is condemned already” meaning that he is not in the book of life and will be “cast into the lake of fire.”

“And God spoke all these words and said;
I am the Lord your God, which have brought you out of the land of Egypt and out of the house of bondage.
You shall have none other gods in My sight.
You shall make you no graven image, neither any similitude that is in heaven above, either in the earth beneath, or in the water that is beneath the earth.
See that you neither bow yourself unto them, neither serve them” (Exodus 20:1-5)
“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.
Remember the Sabbath day that you sanctify it. Six days may you labour and do all that you have to do, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God, in it you shall do no manner of work” (Exodus 20:7-10)
