At least 269 K-12 educators arrested on child sex crimes since January

Nearly 270 public educators were arrested on child sex-related crimes in the US in the first nine months of this year, ranging from grooming to raping underage students.

From Jan. 1 to Sept. 30, at least 269 educators were arrested, which works out to roughly one arrest a day!

The arrests included four principals, two assistant principals, 226 teachers, 20 teacher’s aides and 17 substitute teachers.  

📝 Arrests that weren’t publicized were not counted in the analysis, meaning the true number may be higher.

Mel Gibson set to testify against Harvey Weinstein in rape trial

Weinstein, who is serving 23 years in prison on a two-felony conviction from from early 2020, is facing accusations that he sexually assaulted a woman in 2010. Gibson reportedly learned of the alleged incident shortly after it purportedly occurred. 

Judge Lisa Lench of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County said Gibson could be called by the prosecution as a witness; she further dealt a blow to Weinstein's team by barring his attorneys from asking Gibson about widely publicized antisemitic remarks he made several years ago.
