Lesson 17 - Movies

1. What is your criteria for choosing a good movie?

A. The Plot
B. The Cast
C. The Genre
D. The Director

I always look for the cast...
A good plot is what I look for...
The genre has to be my taste...
I think it's all about the director...

2. Who's your favorite actor?
Al Pacino for sure
But I don't really like Tom Cruise

3. Who's your favorite actress?
I think Julia Roberts is a phenomenon
But I can't stand Jennifer Lopez 'cause I think she's a phoney

4. Who's your favorite director?
I'm a big fan of James Cameron whether it was Aliens, Titanic or Avatar...
But I'm not that keen on Steven Spielberg's movies whether ut was E.T. or Saving Private Ryan

5. How was the plot?
It was just fascinating
I loved the twist at the end
The suspense was so intense
The climax was such a surprise
The story had such a good build up
I can't stop thinking about the ending
The element of surprise was played so well

6. What was the theme of the story?
It was about the tragedy of poverty
The story was mainly about adultry / betrayal / treachery
It was about the failure of the American Dream
It was intriguingly about the power of mercy over justice
The story dealt with the class society of the Victorian Era
The story was about the shallow depth of wealth / identity crisis

7. What is your favorite genre?

A. Action
B. Adventure
C. Comedy
D. Drama
E. Epic
F. Fantasy
G. Fiction
H. Horror
I. Romance
J. Romantic Comedy
K. Documentary
L. Animation
M. Mystery
N. Thriller

Well honestly, I can only watch a good drama and I really don't like dumb horror movies

I'm quite keen on science fiction movies like star wars and I'm not a big fan of comedies

I don't really like thrillers because I always get stressed out near the end but I absolutely love animations like the Ice age, they're absolutely hilarious.

I really enjoy watching Epic movies because they depict historical accounts but I just can't stand action movies that lack a strong plot or even a decent dialogue

I'm so into mysteries where the plot is twisted and you can't anticipate the ending and so I loathe Bollywood Romance 'cause the ending is so cheesy and lame.

What do you think about abortion? Mother is for the child or child is for the mother? Should abortion be banned or should women be allowed to make that choice? At what age should the fetus be considered a human being?
