Huge turnout yesterday! Thank you for coming out everyone. We hope you found the workshop very useful. Feel free to reach out to us for questions, suggestions, or comments. For those of you who didn’t get a chance to attend our past two workshops, make sure you register for the last one on March 10 (the coming Saturday) as soon as possible.
Melkam mishit!
Melkam mishit!
We look forward to seeing those of you who registered for our last workshop tomorow at 9am in Cathedral. Since it's our last spring workshop, if you weren't able to attend any of our sessions so far due to registration issues, DM me at @Amanuel_ML with your info and I'll get you registred. Don't forget to bring a flashdrive tomorrow so that you can take important application materials. Night!
Massive thank you to all of you who participated in our workshops. We hope you enjoyed the workshops and got some important information about what the application process entails. As you may have recognized by now, college applications are very demanding so make sure you plan things in advance if you decide to go that route.
Even though yesterday’s event concludes our spring workshops, we will be back with a more intensive 6 week program somewhere between late June and August that delves deep into what you were introduced to during the workshops. Keep an eye out for announcements about that! We suggest that you prepare a personal statement (or essay about who you are and why you want to attend the 6 week session) in advance as it will be an important part of admittance to the program. We will provide more information about that when we release the application.
Once again, our instructors enjoyed interacting with you all and we hope to see you again at the summer sessions! The whole team will introduce ourselves in the coming weeks so that you can forward any questions about CTP and the application process directly to the us. Thank you and መልካም እሁድ!

As promised, in the days to follow, members of the CTP Team will introduce themselves one by one so that you can get to know us a little better. To get us started, the one and only Amanuel will make his intro.
Amanuel, known to most as Aman, is a senior at Columbia GS. He has been part of the CTP team since he transferred to Columbia in 2016. He currently serves as co-president--alongside the amazing Mahlet Lulseged. Aman is passionate about education and sees himself doing something that's an intersection of technology and education somewhere in Africa. Aman is happiest and most satisfied when he helps others. He gives his heart and soul to CTP and does his best to see it become the best that it can be. In his spare time, Aman follows everything there is to follow about football (the real football!) Oh and he is up for a FIFA challenge any day of the week. Bring your A game so that the score line is a bit respectable.
Reach out to me @Amanuel_ML. I’ll be happy to chat with you or answer your questions anytime!
Herma is a freshman at Columbia University, thinking of pursuing a career in Chemical Engineering. She joined CTP in August 2017 and will be working towards finding sponsorship this summer to fund the cause. Three interesting things about her: she has the unfortunate ability to down 2 jars of Nutella in 2 days, she dabs way too much, and you can count on finding her dancing at 1am. She will be returning to Addis to teach and coordinate the CTP summer sessions, so don’t be shy to say hello!
Rediet is a freshman at Columbia University currently exploring Economics and Computer Science majors. She is an alum of CTP both as a student and an instructor. Rediet currently serves as head of education and mentorship on the CTP board and is passionate about anything related to academia and teaching. Fun facts: the first thing you would notice about Rediet is her out of the world laugh that will probably scare the living day light out of you. She is known for devouring 4 kilos of shimbera kolo in less than a month and she can quote every line from any episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
She is always happy to assist you with anything you need and feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.

Mahlet is a sophomore at Columbia University studying computer science and also hoping to minor in political science. She attended the 2015 CTP summer session and joined the CTP Addis Team as an instructor in 2016. She currently serves as the co-president of CTP alongside the remarkable Aman. Three fun facts about Mahlet. When Mahlet was a little girl she wanted to a prime Minister and she still cares a lot about Ethiopian politics. She is a “self-proclaimed” Marxist, even though she still has not read the communist manifesto yet(don’t worry it is on her summer reading list) and when she is not busy thinking about the evils of Capitalism and the class struggle , she can be found cramming for midterms on the 4th floor of Butler. (Columbia’s largest library) Mahlet also enjoys stalking her old classmates on social media and finding out what they have been up to since graduation. (She misses Nazareth school, her old high school a lot ). She hopes to have her own blog one day.
Yishak is currently a sophomore at Columbia College majoring in something cool. He joined CTP as a freshman at Columbia and has been helping out as CTP's Vice President since the past September. Because he majors in something cool, he spends what time he has to spare on cool things. He doesn't like uncool things, obviously. He also doesn't say much until he does. Ask him questions and see what happens.
And another one! There's Dagmawi!
Dagmawi is a sophomore at Columbia University majoring in Computer Science. He joined CTP many ages ago in 2016 and was also a previous CTP student. He currently serves as the Public Relations Manager and as the overall comic relief. He enjoys catching up on anime, misses his bed too much and will yell a song at any given moment. Do ask him if you have any questions. Just beware not to interrupt his singing.

Veronica is a sophomore at Columbia University majoring in Computer Science and minoring in statistics. She has been with the CTP team since 2016. She binge-watches TV shows during her free time(… or any other time really) and is known to really appreciate the versatility and adaptability of potatoes. She can also recite any line from any episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S ever and challenges Rediet to a duel. Feel free to reach out to her with questions.
Bruk is Late. He is always late. He believes that there are just some things in life that should simply be procrastinated till the last minute. Well... unless of course it's your college applications... In which case you're absloutely going to end up being screwed over. In other words, Bruk's lateness philosophy is a just a huge load of crap that he came up with to make himself feel better about his bad habit, so don't listen to it.
Currently....although he is completely confused about why he is referring to himself in the third person as he writes this bio, he continues to do so just to blend in with the earlier introductions of other CTP team members.
He enjoys watching soccer, supports Manchester United, yet still agrees with the soccer community's motto that "Football is our drug, and Barcelona is our dealer."
BTW if there is anyone in this channel who has never heard of these last two names that were just mentioned.. Please DM him your username so he can kick you out of the channel because the CTP team does not want to have anything to do with you.
