Friends, I have observed something VERY interesting about UPSC PYQs based on an African country.
Wanna take a look?
Wanna take a look?
What's so special about CONGO?🤔
Think of it: A random country in middle of Africa.
Why does UPSC examiner love it so much?
Why, you ask? PYQ seen in👇🏻
2011, 2014, 2019, 2023 (2x), 2024
Can't be a coincidence, man. Let's take a look at type of Qs:
• 2011: DR Congo rich in which resource?
• 2014: Congo basin significant for?
• 2019: Congo river is deepest in the world, T/F?
• 2023:
a) Country that's in Congo basin
b) 3/4th of World's Cobalt is in DRC
• 2024: Largest tropical peatland in which region: Congo Basin
Now, if you see the evolution of Congo, here're some observations:
• Qs on topic seen from UNEP climate reports & IPCC research notes
• Recycling of Congo keyword is now getting smarter. (this is not centric JUST to Congo, tho!)
• Options carry a trap that's hard to escape!
How to escape this trap?
- Learn geographic location of African countries in relation to each other (It's easy, you will find a video on CSEWhy YouTube helping you learn it in just 3 mins)
- Take an African Map and mark Rivers, desert & lakes w.r.t. the countries
Yes, it sounds like a lot
No, it is not a lot!
Yes, it will help you clear Prelims
Do it. Whatever it takes! :)
