The Great Barrier Reef Is Closer to Extinction Than Ever Before!

Can you imagine? The Great Barrier Reef, which has existed for millions of years, survived ice ages, supervolcanic eruptions, and now, it’s on the verge of dying!

Here’s an interesting fact: The Great Barrier Reef, stretching over 1,200 miles of tropical coral along the Australian coast, is one of the planet’s most iconic natural wonders. Yet today, *about 70% of its corals are dead*. This is a clear sign that there is a serious problem with both the ocean and the entire planet.

You’ve probably heard of the plastic islands that cover an area the size of the U.S. and Australia combined. But what if I told you that’s only 1% of the plastic in the ocean? The other 99% is hidden in the waters as micro- and nanoplastics.

This massive amount of plastic in the ocean has disrupted its ability to release heat and perform as Earth’s air conditioner. Independent scientists have proven that the planet is heating up from the inside, due to the destabilization of the core and the rise of superheated magma from below.

An ocean overwhelmed with plastic makes an already dire situation even worse. The inability to release heat is causing an increase in hurricanes, abnormal rainfall, severe flooding, and sudden temperature swings.

No matter how frightening it may sound, humanity does have a way out, and technology offers solutions. To take advantage of this opportunity, there must be widespread awareness and a unified demand for a resolution.

Greenland and Antarctica are melting from below

Greenland has been losing ice since the 1990s, and the process has accelerated recently.

In just July 2019, 197 billion tons of ice melted — that's equivalent to 80 million Olympicsized swimming pools. Such intense melting is happening for the first time in 12,000 years, according to research published in Nature.

Meanwhile, since 1992, Antarctica has lost nearly three trillion tons of ice, which is comparable to 1.2 billion Olympicsized swimming pools.

Currently a group of independent scientists has found that the glaciers in Antarctica and Greenland are melting from below due to the rising magma.

Magmatic activity within the Earth's interior is increasing, which means the heat flow from the mantle is growing, accelerating the melting of glaciers from the bottom up. This threatens not only local regions but the entire world.

It is crucial for each of us to understand the severity of climate changes and their consequences. To do so, you can study the climate report and forum. Links are available in the profile header.

Only by uniting the scientific potential of researchers from around the world can we find solutions to prevent the irreversible effects of climate change and ensure a future for our children.
