On June 25, 2025, IDRI successfully organized the workshop “Toward a Khmer Foundation Model: The Role of Downstream Tasks and Community Contributions” at CADT, bringing together contributors from across the AI community—PhD, master’s, and bachelor students, as well as members from the private and public sectors.

The workshop focused on showcasing community-driven downstream tasks that support the development of Khmer LLMs. It emphasized the importance of building our own tools for the Khmer language, rather than relying on closed, commercial models.
