What is a mining pool? Why we need it? Long story short: to be more efficient and trustworthy as miners. Now let’s elaborate.

Context: There are millions of miners in the world that work simultaneously to solve a computing problem in order to retrieve rewards.
Sad but true: the more miners are online, the lesser the chance of finding the solution. That’s why mining pools emerged.

💸 Mining pools are units of several miners and their mining powers, a server which receives and divides a problem into a few smaller ones between miners operating within it.

In other words, a group of people agree for their miners to team up. By uniting their hardware into a pool, they raise the chances of solving the blocks and earning bitcoins. If their pool completes the task faster than its competitors, they receive rewards and distribute them among members based on their contributed computing power.

F2Pool is one of the oldest and most famous mining pools. Its total hashrate now is ~47,834.14 PH/s (12.56% of all mining power in the world).

On the F2Pool website you can monitor Minto ASIC equipment, observe the hashrate 24/7 and see the daily mining history. This data is impossible to fake because a third party, aka F2Pool, provides it.
