The past ten days were something very special for me: After a long time, I once again had the opportunity to simply relax and take a small trip. Small in the sense that I have limited travel options due to the lack of a Schengen visa. But a good friend asked me if I wanted to go on a three-city tour of Serbia with him, and I spontaneously agreed.

We really experienced an incredible amount. In each of the three cities, we explored the sights on foot. We covered between 10 and 15 kilometres per day. But we also made small trips to neighbouring towns, for example to take part in a wine tasting.

From the second city onwards, we travelled in threes, sometimes in fours, with changing "cast". I met colleagues who also go on air, I made new friends and we had interesting conversations and of course ate and drank. But we also had a lot of fun: we didn't just use the evenings to have dinner together, but we also went bowling, darts or billiards, for example, or just spent a cosy evening playing table top games.

Two day trips by bus were also on the programme. One tour took us to a stalactite cave, a monastery and a waterfall. The second tour was a boat trip on the Danube, very close to the border with Romania. The view of the Danube valley at lunch was fantastic, as were the typical Serbian dishes. On the second tour I was able to see probably the most beautiful sunset of my life so far. From bright red to deep blue, the whole colour spectrum was visible in the evening sky above a lake, which was in reality the Danube, several kilometres wide at this point.

The last day became a bit exhausting for me and my fellow travellers, after all we had to reconcile the check-out from the holiday flat with the most varied departure times and a visit to Ada Ciganlija, a more than six kilometre long natural beach on the outskirts of Belgrade (spoiler: everything worked out).

And: I went water skiing for the first time in my life! The first start went to shit (no, into the water) but I got better and better with time and was able to do almost two laps on the approximately one-kilometre-long track.

That's actually just a brief summary of the past ten days. If I had more time, maybe I could write a novel about it. Maybe I just need some time to process the incredibly diverse impressions, to put them into words.

Thank you to everyone who accompanied me on this journey! I really enjoyed the time with you, I made friends with you and you grew on me.

Now it's time to take a little break from vacation and very soon I will be traveling to Russia for 7-10 days, I'm worried, but mostly I'm sure everything will go smoothly. I need to do some paperwork and see people close to me 🤗

Have a good night ❤️
