Good to hear that, because now - the team of the AEGEE Day 2020 - wants to launch YOU a Video Challenge, dear AEGEEans ❤️

In 5 days our project will start, but most importantly -in 10 days- there will be the 35th anniversary of the AEGEE / European Students' Forum. A very important day, which needs a special celebration from all of the locals, all of the European Bodies of AEGEE-Europe and all of the members. ^_^

So, here we are with this #Challenge.

✒️ As Policy Officer on Equal Rights, I am writing a policy paper on preventing and tackling sexual harassment in youth organisations.

UN Women has launched a social media campaign called "#HeForSheAtHome”. It’s an adaptation of their famous "#HeForShe” campaign and it’s supposed to raise awareness on the burden women face during Covid-19. According to an OECD report, “women make up almost 70% of the health care workforce, exposing them to a greater risk of infection. At the same time, women are also shouldering much of the burden at home, given school and child care facility closures and longstanding gender inequalities in unpaid work. Women also face high risks of job and income loss, and face increased risks of violence, exploitation, abuse or harassment during times of crisis and quarantine.” As you can see, the Covid-19 pandemic has made even more evident that also sharing the burden of care and house work is imperative to reach gender parity and should be the norm in society.

By participating in #HeForSheAtHome, you can encourage men and boys to help women, i.e. sharing the burden and being active in taking care of kids or cleaning the house. The participation is fairly easy: all you (men) have to do is take a picture of yourselves, ideally with a piece of paper with the "#HeForSheAtHome" hashtag, while you’re doing e.g. household chores to show your support!

As the current Liaison Officer towards UN Women, feel free to send the pictures directly to me (teresa.puchinger@aegee.e) until May 17th and with the kind support of GEIG, we will be posting them soon!
